SERVICES FOR DUCKER ANNOUNCED

A memorial service for the Rev. George Ducker will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Radford, 201 Fourth St.

The family will receive visitors at the church after the service.

Ducker, who was pastor of the church and a Radford School Board member, died Sunday afternoon when his car and a truck tractor collided on Peppers Ferry Road.

State police said Ducker was driving west toward Radford when his car partially crossed into the eastbound travel lanes and collided with the cab of a tractor-trailer driven by a Blacksburg man. The area was a passing zone marked with a single yellow line and a dotted yellow line. Ducker was near the end of the passing zone, but was not attempting to pass anyone when the collision occurred, police said.

"I don't know why he drifted over," Trooper Ted Phipps, the investigating officer, said.

A second memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, N.C., Ducker's home town.

In lieu of flowers, Ducker's family requests memorial gifts to any of the following:

Presbyterian Church of Radford 2nd Century Campaign, 201 Fourth St., Radford, Va. 24141.
