GENEROSITY HELPS FUND FULFILL MISSION

The Good Neighbors Fund passed $25,500 mark Tuesday, thanks to two $1,000 contributions. Gifts, great and small, are ensuring that Roanoke Area Ministries will be able to provide emergency help for Roanoke Valley residents.

In appreciation for services provided by RAM, Oakland Baptist Church sent a check that was the "love offering" taken at a "Worthy of Praise" concert featuring musicians from various churches.

"We trust that this check will help you as you help others in the Roanoke area," read the accompanying letter to RAM.

Louise Pick gave a donation Tuesday in memory of her husband, Leonard M. Pick, the former director of Roanoke Area Ministries.

Nancy Ayling wrote with her donation: "I think the idea of an alternative to buying trinkets we don't need is great. I think this is a better use of money than yet another scarf, etc.

"I hope the total this year is greater than 1993," she wrote, adding that her donation was in honor of her friends Nancy Yost, Kay Allen, Joanne Foster and Carol McKenna.
