24 TAXI PERMITS APPROVED IN PULASKI|

There will be no change in the number of taxis plying the streets of Pulaski next year.

Town Council approved 24 cab permits Tuesday, half for James Edward Aust, head of Jim Dandy Taxi Service, and half for Herman Gene Largen, of Blue and White Cabs Inc.

Council approved 30 certificates for cabs this year; six were never issued. The remaining 24 were divided equally between Blue and White and Jim Dandy.

In other business, council:

Granted permission to Charter Federal to dig a ditch across the alleyway connecting Third Street to Main Street.

The ditch will be used to run two, two-inch conduits between Charter Federal's Main Street office and a drive-through under construction. After the work is done, Charter Federal is to restore the alley to its prior condition.

Adopted a new policy for town employees banning sexual and other forms of harassment. Discipline against employees or supervisors violating the policy can include discharge. A supervisor is required to report harassment complaints to his or her department head, who in turn must report it to the department's personnel officer. Disciplinary action is the responsibility of the department head, unless the department head is alleged to be involved. Then the town manager becomes responsible.
