MAN FOUND SHOT IN CAR STILL HOSPITALIZED

The man found shot in his car after hitting a fire hydrant in Roanoke was still being treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Thursday night.

Jerry Lynwood Bryant of U.S. 11 was found Wednesday afternoon on Gainsboro Road, unconscious and bleeding from a gunshot wound to the side.

Bryant's car was traveling south when it veered off the road and struck a hydrant.

Roanoke Police Major J.L. Viar said investigators have talked to several people and are hoping to speak with Bryant soon.

At the request of Bryant's family, no details on his condition were released by the hospital.
