HOLIDAY SCHEDULES ANNOUNCED

Christiansburg: The Christiansburg town offices and recreation and senior centers will close at noon Friday and remain closed until Tuesday.

Garbage service for Friday will be Friday morning; Monday's service will be on Tuesday along with regular Tuesday service.

Residents are asked to place garbage at the edge of the street by 8 a.m.

Radford: The City of Radford Public Works Department will not have solid waste collection Saturday or Monday.

Due to holiday hours at Ingles Mountain Landfill, residents are asked to place garbage at the curbside by 7 a.m. on Friday.

Monday's garbage collection will be Tuesday along with regular Tuesday service.

Blacksburg: The Town of Blacksburg's Municipal Building, Community Center and Blacksburg Transit offices will be closed Friday through Monday in observance of Christmas.

The Community Center and Kipps gymnasiums will be closed Saturday and Sunday.

The Aquatic Center will be closed Saturday through Monday.

Blacksburg Transit buses will run until 6 p.m. on Friday and will not run Christmas Day. The buses will resume break schedule routes on Monday.

There is no change in the refuse and recycling schedule.

Pulaski: Pulaski County offices wil be closed Monday in observance of Christmas.

The Pulaski County Public Service Authority will not collect trash on Monday. The trash collection service will operate on a one-day delayed service basis for the rest of the week.

To make up for the lost day, trash collection for Thursday, Dec. 29 will be Friday, Dec. 30 along with regular Friday service.

Collectible ornaments

RADFORD - Main Street Radford collectible Christmas ornaments still are available at selected member businesses. The 1994 edition depicts the old Radford High School, which was destroyed by fire in 1970. The drawing was done by Ann Giesen Sayers for the city's centennial in 1992.

A few ornaments from previous years also are available at some stores.

The ornaments are $6 or less, depending on the year, and $1 goes to either the Empty Stocking Fund or the Radford High School Foundation for each ornament sold.
