HOLIDAY CLOSINGS

Roanoke: Last day today; will reopen Jan 3.

Roanoke County: Close early today (dismissal times vary); will reopen Jan. 3.

Salem: Close 2 hours early today; will reopen Jan. 3.

Botetourt County: Will reopen Jan. 3.

Franklin County: Close 3 hours early today; will reopen Jan. 3.

Virginia Western Community College: Closes today at noon; reopens Jan. 3.

TRASH

Roanoke: Residential routes: No collection Monday or Jan. 2; those routes will be collected the following day. Regular schedule the rest of both weeks.

Residential recycling: Monday "A" service will be collected Tuesday, and Jan. 2 "B" service will be collected Jan. 3.

Commercial refuse: No collection Monday or Jan. 2; those routes will be collected Dec. 29 and Jan. 5.

Central business district night collection: Will begin at 5 p.m. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve; normal schedule the rest of both weeks.

Roanoke County: For weeks of Monday and Jan. 2, residents with automated containers since July 1 will be on normal schedule. Collections for all other residents will be one day late. Recycling collections will be one day late.

Salem: No collection Monday or Jan. 2; those routes will be collected the following day. Normal schedule the rest of both weeks.

Vinton: No collection Monday or Jan 2; those routes will be collected the following day. Normal schedule the rest of both weeks.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Offices and courts: Closed Monday and Jan 2.

Post offices: Retail windows closed Monday and Jan. 2. No delivery of residential, business or rural mail. Special delivery, express mail and perishable items will be delivered. Mail will be delivered to post office boxes at the Main Office, Downtown Station and Cave Spring Branch in Roanoke.

STATE GOVERNMENT

Offices: Closed Friday, Monday and Jan. 2.

Virginia Employment Commission: Closed Friday, Monday and Jan. 2.

Department of Motor Vehicles: Closed Friday through Monday; closed Jan. 2.

ABC: Offices closed Friday, Monday and Jan. 2. Stores open regular hours Friday but will close at 6 p.m. Saturday and remain closed through Monday. Stores normally open until 9 p.m. will close 2 hours early New Year's Eve; all other stores will close at 6 p.m. All stores closed Jan. 2.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Roanoke offices closed Monday and Jan. 2. Libraries closed Christmas Day and Monday, New Year's Day and Jan. 2. Valley Metro buses on normal schedules.

Roanoke County offices closed Friday, Monday and Jan. 2. Libraries closed Saturday through Monday, New Year's Day and Jan. 2.

Salem offices closed Monday and Jan. 2. Libraries closed Saturday through Monday, and New Year's Eve through Jan. 2.
