WHAT DO YOU THINK ROANOKE NEEDS?

And how do those concepts fit in with the Star City's identity, now that the 611's collecting dust and the regal crestlike Dominion Bank logo has been ousted by those clunky green plastic letters?

Send your thoughts, opinions and suggestions to Wish List for '95, Roanoke Times & World-News, P.O. Box 2491, Roanoke, Va. 24010. (Be sure to include your name and a daytime telephone number in case we have questions.) Or call Infoline and let us know. In the Roanoke Valley, call 981-0100. In the New River Valley, dial 382-0200. Then press STAR (or 7827).

For my money, it's still a great place to buy a house, raise kids, sit on the front porch, go to the movies, drink frothy lattes and take in the mountains.

The ocean may not be possible, but one of those boardwalk photo booths really would be cool.

Maybe then Roanokers would quit wringing their hands and see themselves for who they really are.
