ALEXANDER, Tressa Fraizer, 38, of Max Meadows, passed away Friday, December 30, 1994. Funeral services 2 p.m. Sunday, Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville.

AYERS, Russell James, 78, of Bedford, passed away Friday, December 30,1994 in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 17, 1916 in Bedford County, a son of the late Moses Peter Ayers and Ollie Overstreet Ayers. He was a retired employee of Klopman Mills and was a member of the Wilson's united Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ellen O. Ayers; a stepdaughter, Laura E. Overstreet, Bedford; two stepsons, Jimmy L. Overstreet, Roanoke, William H. Overstreet of Rhode Island; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Loyd E. and Hilda U. Ayers, C. Odell and Hazel C. Ayers, A. P. ``Tom"" and Delores Ayers, H. Elmo and Catherine Ayers, all of Bedford; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn A. Walker, Costoline A. and J. Ray Turner Sr., Jane A. and C. Goggin Hale , all of Bedford; numerous nieces and nephews; five stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 2, 1995 at 2 p.m. from the Quaker Baptist Church, by the Rev. Lewis Garst and the Rev. John Mitchell. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.

BLEVINS, Rev. Virgil S., 74, of Chilhowie, died Friday, December 30, 1994. He was Pastor of the Middle Fork Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lois B. Blevins; two sons, Virgil L. Blevins, Draper, Nathaniel G. Blevins, Chilhowie; three daughters, Ronna B. York, Bristol, Iris B. Carter, Doris J. Blevins both of Marion; four brothers, James P. Blevins, Herbert H. Blevins, J. D. Blevins all of Temple, Texas, Larry S. Blevins, Durham, N.C.; three sisters, Lucille B. Rowland, Lakeland, Fla., Zella B. Dove, Staunton, Sadie Blevins, Temple, Texas; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at the Cleghorn Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles E. Blevins and the Rev. Ronald Whitener officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Fork Cemetery. DAVIS, Ella M., 92, of Galax, passed away Saturday, December 31, 1994. Funeral services 2 p.m. Monday, Vaughan-Guynn Chapel.

FIZER, Paul James, 58, of Christiansburg, died Friday, December 30, 1994, in Montgomery Regional Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Marie Fizer; sons and daughter-in-law, Coby and Anitia Fizer, Christiansburg, Ricky Hensley, Tenn.; daughters, Linda Fisher, Blacksburg, Becky Levesque, New Hampshire; stepdaughter and husband, Sandy and Randall Estes, Riner; stepson and wife, Thomas and Melissa Layton, Christiansburg; his mother, Janie Fizer, Christiansburg; one sister, Virginia Troxel, Christiansburg; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren and one niece. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 2, 1994, at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Ricahrd H. Horne with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 5 p.m. Sunday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home. There will be no evening visitation.

GROSS, Selma L., 77, of Menlo Park, Calif. died Thursday, December 29, 1994. She was the beloved wife of the late Sol Gross and loving mother of Rick and Frosty Gross and Cathy and Jim Mellinger and was the adored grandmother of Ryan Gross, Stevie and Becky Mellinger and a dear sister of Fran Boreman. Mrs. Gross was a resident of Roanoke from 1952 until 1983. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, January 2, 1995, at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Roanoke, with Rabbi Jerome S. Fox. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beth Israel Synagogue, Franklin Rd., Roanoke, Va. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

HALE, Thomas L., of Richmond, formerly of Roanoke, died Friday, December 30, 1994. He was the son of James M. Hale of Appomattox and Thelma W. Hale Ramsey of Roanoke. Also surviving are one brother, Douglas H. Hale, Roanoke; sister, Peggy Hale Lantz and husband, Ronnie L. Lantz, Montvale; sister, Jackie Hale Roberts and husband, Rev. Will Roberts, Roanoke; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. ``Buster"" graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in Roanoke and then served in the U. S. Army, with time in Germany. He attended the Medical College of Virginia and became an Occupational Therapist at Sheltering Arms Rehabilitation Hosptial, Richmond. Thomas L. gave generously to others throughout his life, and even now, continues to give. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 2, 1995, at 1 p.m. at Roanoke First Church of the Nazarene. There will be a service on Tuesday, January 3, 1995, at She ltering Arms in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Lung Association.

HARDY, Elder Elmer Clayton, 72, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, December 30, 1994. He was born June 16, 1922, in Halifax, Va. to Walter L. and Anna Hardy. He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph V. Hardy. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn V. Hardy of Roanoke; sons and daughters-in-law, Archie L. and Yvone Via, Elder James and Carolyn Hardy, Walter C. and Marie Hardy, John W. and Caroline Hardy, all of Roanoke, George A. Hardy, Radford, Va.; daughter, Vandora Walker, Radford, Va.; sisters, Mary Andrews, Vinton, Virginia Bradshaw, California, Lilly B. Otey, Roanoke and Marie Roundtree, New York; two uncles, Arthur Burch and Tommy L. Burch both of Roanoke; 28 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; devoted friends, Brothers Danny Napier and Larry Childs; devoted nephew, Elder Danny Andrew. A host of other relatives and friends. He was a faithful servant of Bibleway Pentecostal Apostolic Church of Christ for fifty years.

JOHNSON, Fannie Josephine, 59, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, December 30, 1994, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Maynard Brandon and a brother, Harvey Brandon. Survivors include her mother, Marie Brandon, Roanoke; a loving daughter, Toni Brandon, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; three sisters, Marva Waid and Thelma White both of Temple Hills, Md., and Lillie Rutland, Cherokee, Ala.; one brother, Robert Brandon, Roanoke; nieces; nephews; cousins other relatives and friends. Services will be held Tuesday 1 p.m. at High Street Baptist Church. Dr. Noel C. Taylor will officiate with burial at Williams Memorial Park. JONES, Lois Mildred, 74 of Roanoke, died Friday, December 30, 1994. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Jones; son, Robert E. Jones Jr.; grandchildren, Michael Richard Jones, Katherine C. KEGLEY, Steven Charles, (``Wolf''), 44, of 716 Fenwich Dr., N.W., Roanoke and formerly of Pulaski, Va. died Thursday, December 29, 1994. He is survived by his wife, Peggy S. Kegley, Salem; two daughters, Edna K. Kegley, Texas, Lisa Michelle Kegley; one son, Steven Charles Kegley Jr. both of Verona, Va.; two stepsons, Dallas C. Gibson, Roanoke, Carl A. Gibson, Salem; one brother and sister-in-law, David Earl and Diane Kegley, Roanoke; two nieces, Natasha Kegley, Norfolk, Nicole Kegley, Roanoke. LEACH, David LaMar Sr., 75, of Bedford, died Thursday, December 29, 1994 in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania on May 18, 1919, a son of the late Merle Leach and Ethel Patton Leach. He was a retired paint contractor with Blankenship Paint Store and was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 28th Keystone Infantry in the European Theater. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Edith Blankenship Leach; a son, David LaMar Leach Jr., Lakewood, Co.; a daughter, JoAnne Leach Beasley, Powatan; a grandson, David L. Leach III, Highlands Ranch, Co.; a granddaughter, Wendy Leach Martin, Brownwood, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Martin, Brownwood Texas; a brother, Robert M. Leach, Chardon, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 2, 1995 at 2 p.m. i n the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ray T. Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. MILLS, Doris E., 66, of Moneta, passed away, Friday, December 30, 1994, after a long illness with a heart condition and cancer. She was a member of Bedford Church of Christ, Bedford and is survived by a caring husband, Woodrow G. Mills, Moneta; a son, Eldridge Sower and wife, Debbie of Salem; a beloved daughter, Lynn Marie Stevens and husband, Jessie Stevens, Goodview; an adopted son, Timothy Mills, Moneta; three Christian stepchildren, Mrs. Judith Burkholder and husband, Nelson of Inman, S.C., Mr. J. W. Mills and wife, Carol, Roanoke, Mrs. Cherie Dicks and husband, Paul, Roanoke; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 1 p.m. Tuesday, with Pastor William M. Waters officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and vistors from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.

MOORE, Linda Marie, 38, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, December 28,1 994. She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Hubbard Moore. Survivors include her son, Brandon Moore; her father, John Moore; one brother, John S. (Sharon) Moore; two sisters, Barbara Moore and Brenda Jones; one aunt, Libby Hubbard all of Roanoke. Funeral services will be Tuesday 2 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

MORGAN, James Edward, 72, of Roanoke, died Saturday, December 31, 1994. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.

MORRISON, Elizabeth W., 84, of Salem, died Sunday, December 25, 1994, at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry, Iowa. She was born in Auburn, Neb. on July 27, 1910. She graduated from the Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia, Pa. in 1932. She moved to Salem with her husband and family in 1943. Mrs. Morrison had been a Roanoke County Public Health Nurse for many years, last serving as the Public Health Nurse for the Roanoke Child Evaluation Clinic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Morrison. Surviving are her children, J. Scott Morrison, Whitehouse Station, N.J., Jean M. Williams, Des Moines, Iowa, and John C. Morrison, Alexandria, Va.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, The Rev. John Woods, Col. U.S.A. ret., Greenville, Pa. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 1995 at Col lege Lutheran Church in Salem. Memorial contributions may be made to the College Lutheran Church in her memory.

SMITH, Billie Winston, 80, of Roanoke, died Friday, December 30, 1994. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. For many years, Mr. Smith was a huckster in the Williamson Road area and was known to many as the Vegetable Man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pancie Monroe Smith and Nannie Belle Perdue Smith. Surviving are his wife, Mildred F. Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Jeffery Jackson, Roanoke; grandchildren, Dennis W. Harris and wife, Beth, Katie Harris and fiance, Eric Poindexter, Sarah Jackson all of Roanoke; sister, Ernestine Virginia Smith Long and husband, Kenneth, Roanoke; brothers, Paul Dolphus Smith and wife, Tootsie, Randolph Smith, Ruben Giles Smith and wife, Bet all of Roanoke, Frank Louis Smith and wife, Eileen of McLean, Va., Alfred Emanuel Smith and wife, Jane, Roano ke.
