CPAS TO ANSWER READERS' TAX QUESTIONS

Are you facing an unusual tax situation that doesn't seem to fit the government forms? Are the instructions in the booklet more confusing than helpful?

For the third year, the Roanoke Times & World-News will provide answers to tax matters by a group of certified public accountants. The accountants are local members of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants who have volunteered to answer tax-related questions from newspaper readers.

"Tax Questions" will be published each Monday on the Money page through April10.

The 10 CPAs who have agreed to answer questions this year are William Brumfield of Foti, Flynn, Lowen & Co.; Stan Boatwright of Lucas & Boatwright; Patrick Budd of Budd, Ammen & Co.; David Lucas of Lucas & Boatwright; Mary Ann McElmurray of Brown, Edwards & Co.; Terry Clem of Miller, Morgan & Co.; Gary Duerk of Brown, Edwards & Co.; Fulton Galer of McLeod & Co.; Jim Taney of Anderson & Reed; and David Wright of Anderson & Reed.

Questions should be sent in writing to "Tax Questions," Roanoke Times & World-News, News Department, P.O. Box 2491, Roanoke 24010. Please include your name and a daytime telephone number in case we have questions. No identity of the readers will be used in the paper.

In addition, the Roanoke Times & World-News also will publish a series of stories on taxes prepared by The Associated Press. The annual series also will appear on Monday Money pages, for five weeks from Jan.30 to Feb.27.
