WINNERS NAMED IN POETRY CONTEST

Elizabeth Drewry, contest chairman of The Poetry Society of Virginia, on Saturday announced the winners of society's 1994-1995 contest. Regional winners include:

B.R. Culbertson, Blacksburg: The Judah, Sarah, Grace and Tom Memorial Award, third place; the John Lennon Memorial Award, fifth place.

D. Darlene R. Coulson, Roanoke: The Judah, Sarah, Grace and Tom Memorial Award, fourth place.

Sally Mook, Blacksburg: the Brodie Herndon Memorial Award, fourth place.

J. Pendleton Campbell, Lynchburg: the Alice Sherry Memorial Award, first place.

Lindsay Key, Boones Mill: Elementary (grade 1-5) Award, first place.

Sarah Meadows, Bedford: Middle School (grades 6-8) Award, third place.

Nicole Kimberly Ferguson, Lexington: Middle School (grades 6-8) Award, fourth place.

The contest received 1,155 poems from 448 poets. A total of $1,290 was awarded.
