MAN SAYS ROBBER LOCKED HIM IN TRUCK

A Roanoke man spent a day and night in his tractor-trailer yelling for help after another man locked him inside.

Police said they found Ronald A. Crump inside the trailer of the rig at 1:10 p.m. Saturday after responding to a report of someone yelling from inside the truck. It was parked at 11th Street and Shenandoah Avenue Northwest.

Crump told police he stopped his truck in the 600 block of 11th Street to get something to eat at 11 a.m. Friday. When he returned to the truck, he said, a man brandishing a gun confronted him and told him to drive south on 11th Street.

Crump said the man then told him to pull over at Shenandoah Avenue, where he took Crump's wallet and locked him inside the trailer.

The driver was not injured.
