Marriage workshop

``Marriage Is Not a Spectator Sport'' will be the theme of former Olympic pole vault gold medalist Bob Richards when he leads a couples workshop Saturday, from 7-9 p.m., at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke.

The event is sponsored by the Roanoke Valley Chapter of the Association for Couples In Marriage Enrichment and is free and open to couples of any age. The A.C.M.E. is nonsectarian and educational in style.

Marriage enrichment is a movement to strengthen stable relationships and is not a substitute for professional counseling.

Following Richards' introductory workshop, couples will have the opportunity to form or join an existing monthly group.

Richards, who won his medal more than 40 years ago, has since been a minister and a motivational speaker.

The Jefferson Center is located at 541 Luck Ave. S.W. For more information, call 929-4372.
