Coal output up 3 percent

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Domestic coal production totaled 20.1 million tons during the week ending April 29, up 3 percent from the 19.5 million tons produced the previous week, the U.S. Department of Energy reported Monday.

The U.S. coal industry produced 19.7 million tons in the same week last year, according to the department's Energy Information Administration.

Domestic coal production so far this year is 354 million tons, 4 percent ahead of last year's production at this time.

Roanoke Co-op to remodel store

The Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op will remodel its store at 1230 Grandin Road S.W. and expects to expand its lines of herbs, vitamins, dietary supplements, books, fruits, vegetables and dairy products.

The store will be closed from 6 p.m. May 20 until 9 a.m. May 30, said co-manager Robynn Onyett. The co-op is operated by the Roanoke Natural Foods Co-operative Association, a 1,500-member group formed in 1974. The Grandin Road store has operated since 1978.

Boone, Boone & Loeb, Roanoke real estate developer, said its Richmond affiliate, Boone, Boone, Loeb & Petit, has been ranked as the ninth-largest residential developer in the Richmond metro market based on its 1994 sales of 46 new homes valued at $12.2 million. The company is building in Wyndham, a planned development in Henrico County.

VTLS Inc., a Blacksburg library automation company, said it has installed its software at the Jewish Public Library in Montreal.
