`Voices in Harmony' show

RADFORD - The Radford University children's and youth chorus, "Voices in Harmony", will perform its spring concert today.

Titled "The Magic Music," the concert will feature magician Jeremy Greystoke. Steve Brown, an area resident who sings baritone, will join the chorus and sing during the "Oliver!" portion of the concert.

Area residents Michelle Meredith from Pearisburg and Eric Bond of Pulaski, both students in the music department at Radford University, will participate in the production. Meredith is also assistant director of the concert.

Membership for "Voices in Harmony" is drawn from four counties in the New River Valley. The chorus is directed by Betty Turner, a music instructor at Radford University. Mary Rae is the pianist.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at the university in the Porterfield Theatre. It is free and open to the public. For more information call 831-5177.

Memorial Day in Shawsville

SHAWSVILLE - The Shawsville Ruritan Club's Community Celebration will be held on Memorial Day , May 27. In the past the club has hosted the celebration on Independence Day.

The annual parade will start at the Sisson and Ryan office and procede to Shawsville High School. Line-up for the parade will start at 1 p.m. and the parade will begin at 2 p.m. Marching units, floats, antique and special interest cars, bicycles, horses, fire and rescue units will be included in the parade.

Anyone interested in participating can call 268-5405. Parade entries must be submitted by May 23.
