Woman's Club art show

NEWPORT - The Newport Woman's Club will host an art show exhibiting art work by Giles County women on June 10.

The art show will be judged by Martha Dillard, a Blacksburg artist. Age categories are 6-10, 11-15, 16-21, 22-55 and 55 years and older. A $25 prize will be awarded to the first winner of each category. Ribbons will be given to second and third place winner.

The event will be at the Newport Recreation Center, from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, call 544-7597.

WTOB features highlight show

BLACKSBURG - WTOB-Channel 2 celebrates the second anniversary of "Spotlight on Blacksburg" this month. The program is broadcast the first, second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. and highlights events and civic groups in blacksburg.

This month's show will feature scenes from the past two years as well as segments on the Summer Concert series, outdoors and senior citizen activities and preview of this year's Independence Day celebration.

The next "Spotlight on Blacksburg" will air Tuesday, June 6. For more information, call the WTOB staff at 961-1199.

Organizers seek cars for show

CHRISTIANSBURG - Sponsors of the Wilderness Trail Festival are looking for restored, antique or specialty cars for a nonjudged show during the September event.

The entry fee for the antique car show is $7 before Sept. 11 and $10 after. All entrants will receive an engraved wooden plaque.

The festival, set for Sept. 16, will feature vendors, music, food, games and other activities.
