BOARD MEMBER SAYS THANKS

It has been a pleasure and an honor to have served the students of the Radford School System for the past six years.

I would like to thank Mayor Starnes and City Council for the opportunity they gave me to work with other board members: Chairman Guy Gentry, Chip Craig, George Ducker, John McPahil, Betty Plott, Chris Strange and Guy Wohlford who, while not always agreeing, always showed respect and cooperation in reaching the best decisions for the good of the system.

A special thanks to Michael Wright and the administrative staff for their guidance and willingness to help with any request given to them.

Finally, to the troops in the front lines.

What superlatives have not been used for the teachers of the Radford City School System? You can ask any new teacher from another system to compare after they have been here awhile and you consistently hear the very highest compliments on how they have been welcomed into the system and how well the system is run. Our teachers care about the students. They encourage and challenge them to achieve to their highest potential. That's why our system is a leader in the state! Keep up your fine work.

I will miss being a part of the team, but I know there is a tradition which is alive and well that will continue to draw quality people to the system and keep it strong.
