WOO NAMED CEO OF STERILE CONCEPTS

PAUL J. WOO JR. has been named chief executive officer of Richmond-based Sterile Concepts Holdings Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of surgical and clinical procedure trays for hospitals and surgery centers. He succeeds Roy R. Martine, who remains as chairman of the board.

Woo has been president and chief operating officer of Sterile Concepts since March 1994. He previously was employed by Carilion Health System, the parent company ofd the firm of Richard J. Beason Certified Public Accountant in Roanoke as a staff accountant. Bohn provides business and individual accounting, and tax and computer services. The Virginia Tech graduate was a member of Ernst & Young's Student Leaders Forum while earning a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

ACCOUNTING

DAVID BOHN has joined the firm of Richard J. Beason Certified Public Accountant in Roanoke as a staff accountant. Bohn provides business and individual accounting, and tax and computer services. The Virginia Tech graduate was a member of Ernst & Young's Student Leaders Forum while earning a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS

STEVE BREEDING has joined the project management department of Thompson & Litton, an engineering, architectural and planning company based in Wise. He will be in charge of the company's Tazewell field office. Breeding comes to Thompson & Litton from Island Creek Coal Co., Virginia Division.

BANKING

EDWARD GIBSON has joined First Citizens Bank of Virginia and will become manager of its Clifton Forge office in August when the acquisition of a Crestar Bank office there is complete. Gibson brings more than 30 years of banking experience to the position, most recently with First Union National Bank in Covington. First Citizens Bank in Virginia is owned by First Citizens BancShares, parent company of First Citizens Bank in North Carolina.

CONSTRUCTION

GARY D. WOLFE has been promoted to vice president of I.N. McNeil Roofing & Sheet Metal Co. Inc. in Roanoke, and RONNIE E. UPDIKE has been promoted to general manager of operations. Wolfe, who has been with McNeil Roofing for five years, is responsible for managing the company's projects and customer relations. Updike, with the company for eight years, is in charge of daily operations and the company's safety program. McNeil Roofing is owned by J.M. Turner & Co. Inc., a Roanoke general contractor.

DEVELOPMENT

TED SIMPKINS of Roanoke, executive director of the Central Piedmont Private Industry Council, based in Rocky Mount, has been elected president of the Virginia Association of Service Delivery Area Administrators, an organization of work force development professionals. As association president, Simpkins also will be a member of the Governor's Job Training Coordinating Council.

FOOD SERVICE

BRUCE M. COFFEY has been named general manager of La Maison du Gourmet restaurant in Roanoke. Coffey, who has been in the food-service industry for 17 years, previously worked for Wintergreen Resort, Hotel Roanoke and, most recently, Classics American Restaurant.

Also at La Maison, THOMAS TAYLOR has become dining room manager and maitre d'. He previously was dining room manager at the Natural Bridge Hotel. He also has worked for the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C., and Michelle's in Hawaii.

HEALTH CARE

JANET HARDY BOETTCHER, chairwoman of Radford University's School of Nursing, has been elected president of the Virginia Association of Colleges of Nursing for the 1995-97 term. Hardy previously was treasurer of the organization. The association's purpose is to improve health care by advancing baccalaureate and advanced-degree nursing education in Virginia.

MANUFACTURING

CHUCK MISSIMER has been named Virginia sales manager for North American Housing Corp. in Boones Mill, which manufactures modular building components. Also, DAVID GUNTER, who has more than 20 years of sales experience, has joined the company as regional sales manager.

ORGANIZATIONS

DANNY DEEDS of Millboro has been appointed to the board of directors of the Virginia Forestry Association. Deeds is a partner with Deeds Bros. Inc. The association promotes the careful use of forest resources for the economic and environmental benefit of Virginia.

UTILITIES

JOSEPH H. VIPPERMAN, president and chief operating officer of Appalachian Power Co. of Roanoke has been given additional duties as executive in charge of the newly formed Energy Transmission and Distribution Group of Apco's parent company, American Electric Power Inc. For an unspecified period, Vipperman will work in both jobs. His appointment is part of a functional restructuring of the American Electric Power organization, which is expected to be in place by January. By that time, the position of Apco president is expected to be redefined.
