MINI-GRACELAND SERVICE MARKS ANNIVERSARY OF ELVIS' DEATH

Miniature Graceland's annual candlelight service in memory of Elvis Presley will be held Saturday night at 8:30 at the Elvis attraction, 605 Riverland Road, S.E.

Wednesday, Aug. 16, is the anniversary of Presley's death in 1977, but Mini-Graceland creators Kim and Don Epperly are holding the service Saturday so out-of-town Elvis fans can attend. Kim Epperly will make remarks and play recordings by Presley. People are asked to bring their own candles.

The dollhouse-sized models of Elvis landmarks in the Epperlys' yard have drawn publicity and visitors from around the world. Last winter, the attraction fell on hard times when the Epperlys became ill and thieves wrecked some of the little buildings.

Thanks to gifts and labor from scores of Elvis fans, Mini-Graceland has been repaired, repainted and rewired this summer and is ready for visitors.
