Dialogue Night for teens, adults

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Montgomery Youth-Adult Partnership will host a Dialogue Night for teens and adults on Monday, Oct. 16, 7-8:30 p.m., at the New River Valley Mall Community Room, Christiansburg. "Memos From a Teen" dialogue night opens a discussion on discipline and communication and explores the relationship between teens, parents and others.

Democrats open two county offices

CHRISTIANSBURG - With election season in high gear, the Montgomery County Democratic Party has opened two offices.

The Blacksburg office is at 126A West Jackson St. The telephone number is 961-1242. The Christiansburg office is at 209 Roanoke St. The telephone number is 381-4360.

Both offices are open from noon to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. At other times, callers may leave a message.

The offices have information on voting and candidates, including bumpers stickers and posters. Volunteers are welcome.

Bridge on U.S. 52 to close Oct. 16

WYTHEVILLE - The bridge over New River on U.S. 52 located 0.2 miles north of the intersection of Virginia 608 in Wythe County will be closed to traffic beginning at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16. Contractors will be repairing this structure and traffic will be detoured during this time. Repairs are expected to be completed by Sept. 1996. Motorists are asked to use caution while traveling in this area.

Program celebrates women and math

CHRISTIANSBURG - Virginia Tech's Mathematics Department is celebrating its centennial with the "Women In Mathematics at Virginia Tech: Past, Present, and Future" program during the week of Oct. 16-20. Events include lectures by and about women mathematicians and a day of mathematical activities for 100 Montgomery County middle and high schools girls.

University Theatre to put on 'Lonestar'

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech Theatre Arts-University Theatre presents a free workshop production of James McLure's comedy "Lonestar." The show runs through Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 8 p.m. in the Virginia Tech Performing Arts Building, Room 204. The program is open to the public but seating is limited.

The show explores how dealing with changes affects people. It also incorporates southern humor.
