CRAIG CO. CAN'T GET PAST COVINGTON

Covington built an early lead and coasted to a 36-22 victory over winless Craig County on Friday night in a Pioneer District game.

The Cougars (4-3 overall, 1-1 district) held a 36-3 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

Covington was led by Tom Luckett, who ran for 61 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns. Mike Barber threw for 76 yards on 7-for-10 passing with one touchdown.

Jason Blankenship was the leading rusher for Craig County, netting 67 yards on 12 carries,

The Rockets (0-7, 0-4) gained a total of 205 yards, 141 on the ground. Covington gained 224 yards, 148 on the ground.
