After Damian Silvera and Tim Prisco scored for the Cavaliers (13-0-2 overall, 4-0-2 conference) in the first extra period, Jay Heaps scored twice for Duke (10-3-1, 2-2-1) in a span of 1:30 in the extra period to tie it. Heaps' second goal came on a header with five seconds to play.
Silvera finished with two goals and one assist for UVa, which is unbeaten in its past 25 games and has not been shut out in its past 50. Duke (10-3-1, 2-2-1) is unbeaten in its past four regular-season games with the Cavaliers.

Virginia Tech goalie Hope Handley set an Atlantic 10 Conference record for saves in a season, but it wasn't enough to save the Hokies from a 2-0 loss to host Dayton in women's soccer. Handley made seven saves, breaking a tie for the record and giving her 167 for the season with two games remaining for Tech (2-11-3, 0-2-1).
Megan Turner, Susan Sautter and Hillary Wager scored goals as the Ferrum women's soccer team defeated the host school 3-1 in the Sweet Briar Invitational.
Daniella Giusto made nine saves to record the victory for the Panthers (10-4-1). Sweet Briar is 4-8-1.
Ferrum and Bridgewater battled to a scoreless tie in a men's soccer game in Ferrum. Stevie Reynolds, from Franklin County High School, made seven saves for the Panthers (5-7-1). Bridgewater's record is 2-12-1.
Centre scored twice in the last 12 minutes to defeat Washington and Lee 2-0 in Lexington in the regular-season men's soccer finale for the Generals (7-8).
Jeremy Rotter and Brandon Panariello had the goals for Centre (15-1). W&L (7-8) had to play the final 20 minutes shorthanded after Gordon Meeker was ejected.
Elizabeth Hayward scored with 46 seconds remaining to give Centre a 2-1 victory over Washington and Lee in Lexington in the final women's soccer game of the regular season for the Generals (9-5).
Erica Reineke scored the goal for W&L (9-5). Sara Morgan scored the first goal for Centre (13-4).
Virginia Tech was 14th in an 18-team field after shooting a 36-hole score of 615 at the Duke Golf Classic in Durham, N.C. East Tennessee State led the way heading into today's final round at 580. In the individual competition, Duke's Joe Oglivie led the way with a 5-under 139. David Havens led the Hokies, with a 149 that tied him for 20th.
Susan Given of Roanoke won the women's division of the Richmond Times Half-Marathon in a time of 1:26:00.
