BARNETT, William G., Sr., 47, of Chester, formerly of Salem, died Saturday, November 4, 1995. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

BUCHANAN, Mary Hull, 92, of Marion, widow of Daniel Milton Buchanan, died Saturday, November 4, 1995 in Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home. She was born October 26, 1903 at Max Meadows, Va. and was the daughter of the late Graham Thomas and Nellie Virginia Harper Hull. She moved to Marion at an early age. She attended Hollins College and taught school for a number of years. She was a member of Royal Oak Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was the first Church historian. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Holmes Hull, Marion; two nieces, Linda Hull Kiser and Anne Harper Hull, both of Marion; one nephew, David Denton Hull Jr., Marion; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; and several cousins. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 6, 1995 at Seaver-Brown Chapel, with the Rev. She ldon Sorge officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Seaver-Brown Fuenral Service is in charge of arrangements.

CARROLL, Minnie Burnop, 83, of Salem, died Saturday, November 4, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis G. Carroll and a son, George W. Carroll. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray E. and Elfreda Carroll, Donald R. and Joyce Carroll; sisters, Annie Booher, Mary McNeil; grandchildren, Peggy Boothe, Barbara Frye, Susie Hancock, Patricia Rossi, Valeria Kline; also several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 1995 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. Mike Derflinger officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

CARVER, John Thomas Sr., 98, of Riner, formerly of Lunenburg County, died Friday,November 3, 1995 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 6, 1995 at 10 a.m. at the Alleghany Church of Christ in Christiansburg, with Porter Riner, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow at the Cool Spring Christian Church Cemetery on Route 622 in Lunenburg County at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The family requests memorials be made to the Alleghany Church of Christ, Christiansburg, or American Diabetic Association, Charlottesville, Va.

CLARK, Ruth White, 79, of Roanoke, died Sunday, November 5, 1995. Funeral services will be held in Angola, Indianna. Local arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.

COCHRAN, Norma Jeannine, 65, of Radford, passed away Saturday, November 4, 1995, in Wythe County Community Hospital. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a retired teacher, having taught for 28 years in the Pulaski County School System. Survivors include her husband, Sidney Otto Cochran Sr. of Radford; one daughter, Ms. Frances Diane Cochran of Palm Springs, Calif.; one son, Sidney O. (``Bucky"") Cochran Jr. of Matthews, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Barrett of Long Beach, N.C., and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Radford, with the Rev. Cecil Albano officiating. Interment will follow in Pentecostal Conference Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

HAMRICK, James Nathaniel, Jr., 53, of Rutherfordton, N.C., died Saturday, November 4, 1995, in Rutherford Hospital. A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late James Nathaniel Hamrick Sr. and Jenice Brown Hamrick. He was a graduate of RS-Central High School and the University of South Carolina, where he received his B.A. degree in history and his Master's degree in International Studies. He was a champion of conservative political causes. He is survived by a brother, H. Brown Hamrick of Charleston, S.C., and a sister, Jenice Hamrick Mundy of Roanoke. A memorial service will be conducted at the graveside at 3 p.m. Monday, November 6, 1995, in the Rutherfordton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 50 South French Broad Avenue, Suite 245, Asheville, N.C. 28801.

KELLEY, Joseph Alonzo, 90, of Roanoke, died Saturday, November 4, 1995 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Bower Kelley; one daughter, Janice D. Lindsey of Florida; one son, William Kelley, Roanoke; four granddaughters, Catherine Riordan, Rebecca Lindsey, Nanette Soliday, all of Harrisburg, Penn., Jan Politis, Riner; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 1995 at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, conducted by the Rev. G. P. Whitley and the Rev. Nancy Whitley, with burial in the St. Matthew Cemmetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Richardson-Horne FuneralHome. MARCROFT, Emma Elvira, 92, of Roanoke, died Saturday, November 4, 1995 at the Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, W. Va. She was born October 2, 1903 in Breman, Maine, the daughter of Otis Eugene and Jennie P. Leland. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marcroft, and a son, John Leland Marcroft. Mrs. Marcroft was a retired teller from First National Exchange Bank and a member of the Greene Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Leola M. and Edward J. Johnson Sr., Athens, W. Va.; grandsons, Edward J. Johnson Jr., Yorktown, John Leland Johnson, Radford, William C. Johnson, Lewisburg, W.Va.; five great-granddaughters, Rachel, Rebecca, Kelly, Christine and Erin Johnson. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday. A brief prayer service will be held at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Walter M. Lockett Jr. officiating. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Round Pond, Maine.

MARTIN, Harry Sherman, 86, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, November 4, 1995 in Montgomery Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Arnold Naff, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. NANCE, Robert Edwin, Jr., 84, of Route 3, Bedford, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 1995, in the Veterans Care Center, Roanoke. Born in Bedford County on October 30, 1911, he was a son of the late Robert Edwin Nance Sr. and Lillie Jackson Morgan Nance. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Morgans Baptist Church. He is survived by two brothers, Morgan Nance, Bedford, and Wesley Nance, Louisville, Ky., and four sisters, Helen Comer, Mechanicsville, Rachel Nance, Richmond, Christine Nance, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Manning Noel, Mineral. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 7, 1995, at 2 p.m. at Morgans Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Tommy Speight. The family will receive friends at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

REEDY, Edith Cooper, 84, of Lebanon, died Sunday, November 5,1995 at her home. A native of Russell County, she had lived in Caretta, W.Va., returning to Lebanon twenty years ago. She was a member of the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church and the widow of W. Bane Reedy. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Nancy) Jennings, Salem; one sister, Mrs. Powell Campbell, Lebanon; two granddaughters, Mrs. Derek (Deborah) Capanna, Silver Spring, Md., and Miss Susan Jennings, Salem. Russell County Funeral Home is in charge. Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Cooper Reedy will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Russell County Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Nation officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooper Family Cemetery. Friends and relatives will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

RUFF, Helen Mae, 80, of Buena Vista, died Sunday, November 5, 1995, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born April 2, 1915, in Rockbridge County, daughter of the late William and Pearl Ramsey Muterspaw. She had worked at the Berson Silk Mill. Surviving are four daughters, Mary Wright of Buena Vista, Betty Campbell of Moneta, Carolyn Stinnett of Huntsville, Ala., and Martha Lee Greenblatt of Clifton Forge; two sons, Ralph Chittum of Buena Vista and Wilford Ruff Jr. of Lynchburg; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Annabelle Muterspaw, Viola Via, Grace Jones, all of Buena Vista, and two brothers, George Muterspaw of Salem and Frank Muterspaw of Amherst. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 7, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the Green Hil Cemetery, Buena Vista, by the Rev. Aaron Wilhelm. SINK, Alonza 77, of Roanoke, died Sunday, November 5, 1995. He attended Brentwood Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter from Regional Construction. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Sink; daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Lomax Johnson, Roanoke; sons and daughter-in-law, James and Joyce Sink, Roanoke, Larry Sink, Chicago, Ill.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie E. SMITH, Homer Garland Jr., 38, of Copper Hill, died Sunday, November 5, 1995 at his home. He was a 1975 graduate of Floyd County High School and graduated from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. Also, he graduated from the School of the Prophets in Rocky Mount in 1987. He was a member of the Pippin Hill Memorial Church. He is survived by his parents, Homer G. and Yvonne Smith, Copper Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Gerald Vest, Check; brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Connie Smith, Floyd; two nieces, Cara and Kristen Vest. WALKER, Otis Vincent, 84, of Moneta, passed away Saturday, November 4, 1995 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born October 15, 1911 in Bedford Co., a son of the late Robert Walker and Rosie Hudson Walker. His wife was the late Nona Whitworth Walker. He was a retired employee of Wells Furniture, was a farmer and a member of the South Bedford Congregation of the Jehovah Witness. He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Minnie Walker, Huddleston, Kathleen Byrd, Moneta, Reba Jones, Richmond; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 6,1 995 at 2 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by Glenn A. Oakley. Interment will follow in the Byrd Family Cemetery at the Radford Baptist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
