ARMBRISTER, Ethel Baker, 86, of Route 1, Box 2-A , Draper, died early Wednesday morning, November 8, 1995, in the Radford Community Hospital. She was born in Wythe County on November 23, 1908, and was the daughter of the late Buford Baker and Fannye Dyer Baker. She was a member of the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by one son, Geoffrey Armbrister. Surviving are her husband, Harold F. Armbrister, Draper; three sisters, Frances B. Dent and Mrs. Russ Crockett, Wytheville, Mrs. William Hannan, Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Connie Armbrister, Marion; two grandchildren, Harold Scott Armbrister and Eric Lynn Armbrister, Marion, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Preston O. Sartelle Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at their home at any time. BARR, Eric, 16, of Marion, died Tuesday, November 7, 1995, at Bristol Memorial Medical Center Hospital as a result of an automobile accident. He was a student at Marion Senior High School. Survivors include his father, Carl Barr, Marion; mother, Rhonda Shupe, Saltville; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Donna Barr, Marion; paternal grandfather, Walter Barr, Chilhowie; maternal grandmother, Alice Shupe, Anchorage, Alaska; great-grandmothers, Hattie Delp, Saltville, Lora Barr, Chilhowie. BRIZENDINE, Charlotte Scott, 77, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, November 7, 1995. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Sydnor W. Brizendine Jr.; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Brizendine Hathcox and Clarence B. Hathcox; granddaughter, Charlotte B. Hathcox, all of Roanoke; brother and his wife, Francis D. Scott and Alpha B. Scott, Vinton. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 10:30 a.m. Saturday by Dr. Harry Y. Gamble. CARROLL, John H. Jr., 73, (``Johnny""), went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 7, 1995. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. J.H. and Lillian Carroll. Johnny was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and leader of the church's jail ministry. After attending Virginia Tech, he worked as a sales representative for many years. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frances Dickey Carroll; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Nolan Pace, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sally and Glenn Moorer, Marion, Virginia; a son, John H. Carroll, III, Roanoke; four grandchildren, Emily and Andrew Pace and Ginny and Matthew Moorer; also surviving is one sister, Mary Frances Martin, Clearwater, Florida, and many, many friends. Those who knew and loved Johnny are invited to join in the celebration of his homegoing at a memorial service to be conducted by Dr. Charles Fuller, on Friday, November 10, 1995, at 1 p.m. in the former sanctuary at the First Baptist Church, Roanoke. CORVIN, Roger Lee, 44, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Wytheville, died Wednesday, November 8, 1995. He was a former Labor Specialist for the United States Department of Labor. He is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Martha Corvin, Wytheville; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Michael Smith, Wytheville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Kay Corvin, Rural Retreat; Thimothy and Nancy Corvin, Blacksburg; and grandfather, Osborne P. EDWARDS, Angel, 17, of Marion, died Tuesday, November 7, 1995, as a result of an automobile accident. She was a student at Marion Senior High School. FOULKES, Hazel Florence Killoch, 85, of Lexington, died Tuesday, November 7, 1995 in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born on April 1, 1910, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Thomas Killoch and Florence (Rudischauser) Killoch. Mrs. Foulkes, a 1929 graduate of the Adelphi Academy, Brooklyn, N.Y., had resided in Lexington for 18 years. Prior to moving to Lexington, she had resided on Long Island, N.Y. and in New Jersey. She was past president of the Demarest New Jersey Garden Club and was an active member of the Tenafly New Jersey Presbyterian Church and its circles. As a resident of Lexington, she had been active in community affairs, serving as campaign leader for the city residential division of the United Way in 1980 and 1981. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Stonewall Jackson Hospital Auxillary for the years 1981 and 1982 serving as vice-president for membership. She was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church and the Lexington Woman's Club. In addition to her husband, William Wilkinson Foulkes Jr., survivors include a son, William W. Foulkes III, Everburg, Belgium; two daughers, Mrs. Joyce K. Weir, Haworth , N.J. and Mrs. Jane A. Strong, Westport, Conn.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Foulkes was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A private graveside service will be conducted Friday, November 10, 1995 in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 10, 1995, in the Lexington Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. William M. Klein officiating. She was born July 10, 1904, in Wythe County, and is survived by two daughters, Jean Tedder and Iva Easter, Hillsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Hazel Ogle, Danville, Bill and Elsie Ogle, Hillsville; four sisters, Sarah Chrisley, Golda Smythers, Hazel Payne and Kathleen Reynolds, all of Max Meadows; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Nina Virginia Holland, Phillippines; three stepsons, Roy Hendrick, Elkhart, Ind., Howard Hendrick, Thaxton, Billy Hendrick, Martinsburg, W.Va.; several stepgrandchildren, and several stepgreat-grandchildren. KEFFER, Mary Ellen G., 64, of Newport, died Wednesday, November 8, at her home. She was a lifelong member of Level Green Christian Church. She is survived by her Husband Charlie Keffer; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Mary Keffer, Eric and Lorie Keffer, Greg and Loretta Keffer, New Castle. Two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Sue and Charles McCoy, Newport, Penny and George Straley, Mt. Airy, N.C.; one daughter Karla Keffer, Iranto; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duard L. and Della Garrison, Princeton, W.V., N.J. Jr. and Gracie Garrison, Honaker; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Gene and Jack Jessee, of Narrows, Ann and Sid Hall, Honaker; a brother-in-law, Kenneth L. Keffer, New Castle; two special friends Linda Smith, and Alma Baker. Her Hospice nurse Pat Krebs. 13 grandchildren, three great -grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. LARSEN, Frances Burnett, 73, of Acton, Mass., died Tuesday, November 7, 1995. She was a native of Floyd and the daughter of the late E. Sam Burnett, and her mother, Iturea Weeks Burnett, who preceded her in death July 20, 1995. Surviving are her husband, Wesley Larsen of Acton; one daughter, Rebecca Susan Larsen of New York City; one son, Stephen Burnett Larsen of Acton; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Anna B. (George H., Jr.) Elcan, Lynchburg, Ethel and John T. Rogers, Hopewell, Evelyn B. (Charles W., Jr.) Bondurant, Salem. McFADYEN, James D., III, 34, of 108 Parker St., Pittsfield, Mass., died Tuesday afternoon, November 7, 1995, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Paterson, N.J., on January 21, 1961, he was a son of James McFadyen and was a 1979 graduate of Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan, N.J. He was a resident of Pittsfield for the past six years. He was employed as maintenance director at Camp Taconic of The Berkshires for the past six years, and was an avid member of the J. B. Pool League. He leaves his wife, the former Lauren McCarron, whom he married in 1993; his father, James McFadyen of Roanoke; his stepmother, Laura McFadyen of Roanoke; two sons, James D. McFadyen of England and Ryder James McFadyen of Pittsfield; two brothers, Daniel R. McFadyen and Christopher M. McFadyen of Roanoke; three stepchildren, Kylie Ungewitter, William Prout and Daniel Prout of Pittsfield, and his paternal grandmother, Lillian McFadyen of Atlanta, Ga. PARKER, Katherine Martin, 83, of Snow Creek, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 1995, at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Born October 4, 1912, a daughter of the late William H. and Matilda Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband W. Wilson Parker; a sister, Eliza J. Love; and a brother, Oliver C. Martin. Surviving are two brothers, William P. RENICK, Sarah Armstrong, 76, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 1995, at her home. She was the widow of Anderson M. ``Andy'' Renick. Mrs. Renick was a graduate of Jefferson High School, a graduate of the Jefferson Hospital Sc hool of Nursing and a graduate of the Jefferson Hospital School of Radiology. She was formerly the Head Radiologist of the Jefferson Hospital in Roanoke. She was a long time member of the Rokeva Women's Club and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Renick was a volunteer with the Good Samaritan Hospice, Meals On Wheels, and the Veterans Regional Medical Center in Salem. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles P. Jr. and Carolyn Lilly Newell, Roanoke; sister, Mrs. Martha A. Patterson, Roanoke; stepson and daughter-in-law, C. John and Jane Renick, Roanoke; stepdaughter, Ms. Ann Cecil Renick, Warrenton; stepson, Dr. A. M. Renick Jr., Baltimore, Md.; one granddaughter, and her fiancee, Miss Martha Elizabeth Newell of Roanoke, Jason Scott DeBord, Glen Allen; seven stepgrandchildren, Mrs. Kathryn Overacker, Mrs. Sarah Jane Baumgardner, John C. Renick, Mrs. Karen Kays, A. M. Renick III, Gerald W. Renick and Mark Renick; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; niece and nephew, Mrs. Anne Patterson and Ed Patterson. WARREN, Basil D., 74, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 8, 1995. He was retired from the Norfolk & Western Railway, a member of Melrose Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Warren was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Post #1264, where was a Past Commander. He was preceded in death by three brothers, W. Hinson Warren, E. Crafton Warren and C. Edward Warren. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Louise Hancock Warren; a son and daughter-in-law, B. Lynn and Dr. Nancy G. Warren, of Alexandria and Roanoke; two sisters, Irene Warren Gibson, Roanoke, Billie Warren Bunnell, Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, E. C. Warren, II, and a special friend, Butch Craft. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. WILLIAMS, Billy Lee, 48, of Pilot, died Monday, November 6, 1995, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Chapel, Christiansburg, conducted by the Rev. Steve Willis, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Humane Society of Montgomery County, or the Disabled American Veterans. WILLIAMS, William Twyman, III, 85, of Route 5, Lexington, retired businessman and farmer, died Wednesday, November 8, 1995, at the home of a son with whom he had made his home this year. Born in Lynchburg on July 26, 1910, he was a son of Presbyterian minister Dr. W. T. Williams II and Annabel Lyle Williams, and was one of six brothers to attend Hampden-Sydney College. Former owner-operator of the Rockbridge Block Plant in Lexington, he was a longtime area scout leader and mem ber of Old Stone Presbyterian Church at Timber Ridge. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan Mackey Williams, and by four brothers. Survivors include four sons, Brig. Gen. W. T. Willians IV, USAF Ret., and Preston M. WINTER, Nannie Lawrence Spangler, 91, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 1995. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman D. Winter, an infant son, John David Winter; five brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Winter was a retired secretary with Thurman and Boone. She was a member of Villa Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, George Grant Winter and wife, Sandra; granddaughters, Doretta Nannae Winter, Dawn Winter-Ware and husband, Paul, all of Roanoke; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; a very special companion, Benji. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P O. Box 554, Roanoke, Va. 24003-0554. A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday in Evergreen Burial Park, by the Rev. Harold C. Lewis. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's North Chapel.

WOOD, Ruth Elizabeth Knutson, 41, of Wytheville, died Tuesday, November 7, 1995, in the Roanoke Memorial Rehab ilitation Center. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she served as Chairperson for the Counsel on Ministries, and as a member of the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Wood was a 1972 graduate of Ft. Chiswell High School. She received her B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education in 1976 and her Masters Degree in Reading in 1980 from Radford University. She was coordinator of Special Education at Spiller, Scott Memorial and Wythe County Vocational Schools in the Wythe County School Systems. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, Sigma Kappa and Alpha Delta Kappa Education Sorority. She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Wood; one stepdaughter, Sherry Luttrell of Stevens, Penn.; one stepson, Todd Wood of Wytheville; her parents, Ray M. and Jane Norris Knutson of Max Meadows; one sister, Martha K. Child of Windsor, Conn.; two brothers, William ``Bill"" Knutson of Wytheville, Thomas Randolph Knutson of Mercerville, N.J.; one stepgrandson, Christopher Luttrell; two nieces, Amanda Elizabeth Child, Sheena M. Knutson; four nephews, William Keith Knutson, Nathaniel R. Child, Samuel R. Knutson, David K. Knutson. Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Friday, November 10, 1995, at The St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Charles C. Burnett and the Rev. Norman Wilhoit officiating. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, or at the residence at any time. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the American Cancer Society or the St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Fund.
