Preparatory seminar for adoptive parents

ABC Adoption Service Inc., a licensed, non-profit agency, is now accepting applications for the last three openings in its next Parent Preparation Homestudy session for the International Adoption Program. Upon completing this series, prospective adoptive parents should be eligible for the assignment of a child by spring.

Volunteers needed at Lewis-Gale

Lewis-Gale Medical Center is recruiting additional volunteers with a variety of skills to provide services throughout the facility including delivering flowers to patients, working at the information desk, answering phone calls and making copies.

An orientation is provided for all volunteers; schedules can be arranged to meet your needs.

Senior citizens asked to volunteer

The Senior Companion Program needs senior citizens ages 60 and older on a limited income and willing to give four hours a day to help another senior.

Volunteers will receive a non-taxed allowance of up to $200 per month, gas money, insurance while volunteering and other benefits.

Operation Santa Claus seeks donations

The Mental Health Association of Roanoke Valley is kicking off its Operation Santa Claus project.

Operation Santa Claus provides gifts for almost 700 Roanoke Valley residents with mental disabilities who live in the area.

Cash contributions are welcome and will be used to purchase gifts. Make your check payable to the Mental Health Association of Roanoke Valley and mail it by Dec. 8 to: Post Office Box 592, Roanoke, Va. 24004.

Donated items are also welcome and may be dropped off at Blue Ridge Community Services, Crestar Bank's Cave Spring Corners and Hollins locations and Jefferson Center between Wednesday and Dec. 8.
