ROY THORPE TO HELP LEAD ATTORNEY GROUP

Roy Thorpe, Montgomery County's attorney, was elected vice-president of the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia Inc. at the professional association's fall meeting last week in Charlottesville.

The LGA is a 539-member group of lawyers who represent cities, counties and towns across the state, and others in private practice who specialize in local-government matters.

Elizabeth Whiting, Middleburg town attorney, was elected president of the group, and W. Clyde Gouldman II, Charlottesville's city attorney, was elected secretary-treasurer.

Thorpe has been Montgomery County's attorney since 1984.
