Entertainers sought for Christmas Store

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Montgomery County Christmas Store needs groups to provide entertainment for shoppers from Wednesday, Dec. 6, until Saturday, Dec. 9. Also needed are jugglers, puppeteers and storytellers to provide entertainment for children. Call Fred Benfield at 552-8602 to volunteer.

Applications for the Montgomery County Christmas Store must be postmarked by Dec. 1 to be considered for the 1995 Christmas Store.

Used goods will be accepted at the store and at Northside Presbyterian Church until Dec. 2. The store needs coats, jeans, double sheets, and children's winter clothing in large sizes.

Stage performance looks at Richard II

DUBLIN - The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company will perform the production "The Glorious Son of York," Wednesday, Nov. 15 at New River Community College's Richardson Auditorium.

The performance uses the historical Richard II as described by historians and scholars to comment on the literary Richard II created by William Shakespeare. The production includes large portions of Shakespeare's text. The play mimics Renaissance production principles, includes elaborate costumes, the use of neutral playing space and direct involvement with the audience.

Radford University sets wellness lecture

RADFORD - Don Ardell, a wellness expert who has published 10 books, will present a workshop Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Radford University.

The workshop will include a lecture and then orchestrate small group activities that focus on the paths to healthy living.

Ardell is the director of Wellness Institute and associate professor at the University of Central Florida. He was one of 10 Americans to receive the Healthy American Fitness Leaders Award in 1991.

"High Level Wellness For Your Body, Mind and Spirit," is sponsored by Radford's Office of Continuing Education and Scholarly Lecture Series. Registration deadline is Nov. 13. Cost is $59 and includes instruction, refreshments and materials. Agencies registering three or more staff members will receive a 15 percent discount. Foxridge residents to collect for needy

BLACKSBURG - Residents and staff of the Foxridge apartments are collecting donations to help needy families in the New River Valley. Donations will be used to purchase clothes, food, and toys.
