KID'S CONTRIBUTION SPURS ADULT GIFT-GIVING

Good Neighbors contributors come in all sizes and ages. Even children can inspire adults to give.

"This is the first year I've given to the Good Neighbors Fund," wrote Dorothy Jones in a note accompanying her check. "I decided if my grandson could give to honor his Scout leaders, then I needed to give something."

"My grandson is Cameron Johnson," added the proud grandmother. Cameron, 11, was featured in a Good Neighbors article Friday because of his contribution.

She asked that part of her donation be designated in "memory of my very dear friend, Ruby P. DeHart," a retired Roanoke Times employee.

A donation also came in a Christmas card from Jennalee Eudy. In it, she wrote, "I am a widow 941/2 years old. Wish I could send more."

"Bless you," she concluded.
