FLORIDA STATE USES FTS TO OVERWHELM RADFORD

Florida State 79, Radford 59: James Collins scored 17 points to lead a balanced attack, and the Seminoles (6-2) took advantage of a huge discrepancy in free throws to beat the Highlanders (5-3) in Tallahassee, Fla.

Florida State led 53-51 with 8:52 left before pulling away from Radford, which had 31 fewer free-throw opportunities. Florida State scored 26 of the game's final 34 points.

Jason Lansdown and Eric Bowens shared scoring honors with 18 each for the Highlanders. Anthony Walker added 15.

No.6 Georgetown 104, Morgan State 60: It took about 100 seconds for Allen Iverson to turn a one-point game into a blowout. Iverson hit back-to-back 3-pointers, then dished off three fast-break assists in a 15-0 run to break it open for the Hoyas (9-1) as they routed the Bears (1-6) in Landover, Md.

Iverson finished with 20 points, seven assists, nine rebounds and six steals. Three other players scored in double figures for Georgetown.

No.10 Iowa 93, Western Illinois 41: Jess Settles and Russ Millard scored 15 points each, and the Hawkeyes (9-1) made 10 3-pointers in the second half to rout the Leathernecks (3-4) in Iowa City, Iowa.

Western Illinois had 27 turnovers and Iowa had 20, and the two teams combined for 38 personal fouls.

No.11 North Carolina 66, Pitt 49: Antawn Jamison scored 17 points to lead a balanced attack that carried the Tar Heels (8-1) past the Panthers (3-3) to their sixth consecutive victory.

The game was a homecoming to Pittsburgh for Calabria, a senior guard from nearby Beaver Falls, Pa. He had a game-best nine assists but also showed some jitters. The 79.3 percent free-throw shooter made only three of seven.

No.20 Duke 107, Western Carolina 67: Jeff Capel scored a game-high 27 points and Greg Newton hit all nine of his shots to finish with 22 points as the Blue Devils (7-2) dominated the Catamounts (1-6) in Durham, N.C.

The Cardinals appeared to be in control after DeJuan Wheat's layup pushed their lead to 73-63 with 3:41 left in the game. But Brown scored on a dunk off a fast break and followed with a fast-break layup after a turnover to slice the margin to 73-67. George Mason (3-3) was averaging 119.6 points a game, but poor shooting and an inability to score inside against a packed USC defense kept them from challenging the Trojans. Nate Langley led the Patriots with 29 points.

N.C. State 120, UNC Asheville 71: Todd Fuller had 20 points and keyed the early surge as the Wolfpack scored the game's first 16 points and routed the Bulldogs in Raleigh, N.C.

The victory gave N.C. State (5-0) its first five-game winning streak since 1989-90 - the late Jim Valvano's last season as coach. Asheville (4-3) is 0-25 all-time against ACC teams, including 0-11 against N.C. State.

N.C. State welcomed back guards Ishua Benjamin and C.C. Harrison, both returning from academic suspension, for the first time this season at the 13:48 mark of the opening half. A little more than a minute later, Benjamin hit his first shot - a 3-pointer. Harrison nailed his first three shots.
