A story in Wednesday's paper said incorrectly that Wayne A. Hicks, 23, was charged with carrying 38 grams of crack. Investigators said Hicks led them to the crack, which was buried in his basement.

The correct phone number for information about a proposed conference next spring in Roanoke on sustainable development is (540) 639-9314. An incorrect number was included in a story on Tuesday's Business page.

Boo Battle's team was incorrectly identified in a caption in Wednesday's editions. Battle plays boys' basketball for the Patrick Henry Patriots.

Clarification

A photo caption in Wednesday's newspaper identified Carolyn Viar, the victim of a July 28 dog attack, as a newspaper carrier for The Roanoke Times. She was not employed by the newspaper. Her husband was a Roanoke Times carrier, and she was helping him deliver papers the morning she was attacked.
