FRAMER NOW OUT OF THE PICTURE

Picture Parts, a Roanoke frame shop, closed its store at Townside Festival Shopping Center on Wednesday.

Customers who had artwork waiting at the shop should call the store's Charlottesville-based parent company, Ivy Industries Inc., at (804) 979-0715, to find out how to get their merchandise. A receptionist at Ivy's offices said the company's other retail outlets will handle all unfinished framing.

Neither Picture Parts' staff nor Ivy Industries' management was available to comment on the closing Wednesday.

Stuart Meredith, director of leasing for Hall Associates Inc., which manages the shopping center, said the shop had not notified the real estate firm about its plans to leave. He said another Townside Festival tenant called him Wednesday morning and told him the store had closed.

Picture Parts, which had been at Townside Festival since 1988, has several years remaining on its lease, Meredith said. In the past six months to a year, the store had considered subleasing the space because business was down, he said. He was unable to reach anyone at Ivy Industries for more details.
