CELEBRATIONS - BIRTHS

Altice birth Hunter James-Tilmond Altice was born December 12, 1995, at 9:52 a.m. at Community Hospital. He weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz. and was 201/2 inches long. His parents are Herbie and Kim Altice. Sister Kayle Altice is 31/2 years old. Grandparents are William and Dianne Brown of Glade Hill and Eddie and Penny Altice of Rocky Mount. Attending physician was Dr. Garcia.

Earls birth

Tony and Lorraine Earls of Roanoke proudly announce the birth of their daughter, Emily Catherine, on December 11, 1995, at Lewis Gale Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz. and was 21 inches long. Brothers, Justin 11, Travis 5, and Austen 2, share their joy. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William E. Diekow of Roanoke, Mrs. Marie Dalton of Fincastle and Mr. Robert J. Earls, Sr., of Hardy.

Special thanks to Dr. Francis X. Moffitt for the excellent pre-natal care and safe delivery of our daughter.

Most of all, we thank God for entrusting Emily to our care. She is perfect.

Jennings birth

Paul Thomas Jennings, age 5, joyfully announces the birth of his baby sister, Laura Kate, on January 9, 1996, at 10:53 a.m. at Community Hospital of the Roanoke Valley. She weighed 7 pounds 51/2 ounces and was 201/4 inches long. Attending physicians were Drs. Lee McLennan and Steven Farber. Laura Kate's parents are Cathy and Rush Jennings of Blue Ridge. Grandparents are Mickie and Paul Dickinson of Roanoke and Bradenton, Fla., and Nellie and Homer Jennings of Vinton.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Drs. James Holman and Lee McLennan for their expert guidance and care, as well as their wonderful partners and office staffs. A special thank you also goes to the professional nursing staff at CHRV in the Obstetrical Operating Room, Recovery Room, Nursery, and 7 West Mother-Baby Unit for their exceptional care.

Our terrific neighbors worked tirelessly to help us get to the hospital for Laura Kate's birth in the aftermath of the ``Blizzard of ``96''. Many, many thanks to the Kanes, the Perdues, our Pastors the Milners, and especially the Massies, who delivered us safely to CHRV in the middle of the night! We are forever indebted to these special people.

Martin birth

Toby and Sherry Martin, proud parents, and big sister, Nicole, would like to announce the birth of their son and brother, Teddy Michael Martin. He was born January 12, 1996 at 1:23 am at Community Hosp., weighing 8 lbs. 3/4 oz. and 20 inches long. His grandparents are Melvin and Rosemary McGuire of Salem and William and Marlene Martin of Stewartsville. His great-grandmothers are Doris Barton of Thaxton and Louise Holdren of Chamblissburg. His uncles are Ricky McGuire, Austin and Garth Martin. Special thanks to Dr. Salvon Harmo n and nursing staff at CHRV. Teddy, we love you.

Nelson birth

Benita (Rachel) and Maynard Lackey of Collinsville are pleased to announce the birth of their granddaughter, Rachel Lynn Nelson. Born September 6, 1995, at 12:32 p.m., she weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21 inches long. Her proud parents are Jean Marie and Tom (Tiger) Nelson of Cincinnati, Ohio. Paternal grandparents are Lynn and Al Nelson of Terrace Park, Ohio. Overjoyed aunts and uncles are Charlene and Jeff Lackey of Palmyra, and Holly and Dennis Purcell of Terrace Park. Thrilled first cousins are Alex Lackey of Palmyra and the quads: Stacy, Hillary, Erin and Tim Purcell of Terrace Park.

Rachel was named for her grandmothers and her maternal great-great-great-grandmother, Rachel Wood Turner.

Wright birth

Debora and Kyle Wright proudly announce the birth of their son, Jackson Kyle Wright. Jackson was born January 9, 1996 and weighed 7 lbs. 4 3/4 ozs. and measured 20 1/2 inches. Grandparents are Martha Wright of Roanoke and the late Don Wright and Beverly Stafford of Troutville and the late Dr. Aubrey Stafford. A special thank you to Dr. Lynn Keene and the nurses at Community Hospital.
