Toys sought

The Blue Ridge Institute and Museum of Ferrum College is seeking older handmade toys from the Blue Ridge, Shenandoah Valley and Southwest Virginia for an upcoming exhibit on traditional playthings.

``Folks Toys and Amusements'' will showcase the variety of handmade toys children and adults have created since the mid-1800s.

In addition to the toys, the exhibit will include an array of small wooden models - tractors, wagons, steam engines, etc. - which were intended to provide amusement while they were being made.

The exhibit will open April 15 in the DuPont Gallery of the museum and will run through Spring 1997.

For more information on the exhibit or for submitting toys, call 365-4416.

In return, you'll receive a non-taxed allowance of up to $200 per month, gas money, insurance while volunteering and other benefits.

Isolated seniors need companions in Botetourt, Craig and Roanoke counties and the Alleghany Highlands.
