CELEBRATIONS - ENGAGEMENTS

Borders-Young

Wendy Dawn Borders and David A. Young are engaged to be married April 20, 1996. The wedding will take place at Rainbo w Forest Baptist Church. Wendy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Borders of Vinton and Patricia Gilliam of California. She graduated from Salem High School and Virginia Hair Academy. David is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David B. Young and Donita Young of Roanoke.

Brinkley-Markham

Elizabeth A. Brinkley and Christopher P. Markham are engaged and planning to be married August 10, 1996.

Elizabeth is the daughter of Martha Brinkley and the late Ronnie L. Brinkley.

Christopher is the son of Patricia Markham.

DeLong-Boush

Mr. and Mrs. Jerome S. DeLong are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephanie Ann, to C. Brian Boush, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Boush.

Miss DeLong is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and received her B.S. degree in education from Radford University. She is a teacher with Salem City Schools.

Mr. Boush is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Radford University where he received his B.S. degree in speech communication. He is an account executive with Cox Communications - Cable Rep.

An early August wedding is planned.

Green-Wimmer

Mr. and Mrs. James W. Green announce the engagement of their daughter, Karen, to Marc Wimmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry B. Wimmer, all of Lynchburg.

Miss Green is a graduate of Heritage High School and received a B. S. degree in Elementary Education from Longwood College and a M.Ed. degree in Educational Leadership from Lynchburg College. She is a kindergarten teacher with Lynchburg City Schools.

She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lemuel S. Bennington of Lynchburg and the late Lemuel S. Bennington and the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Green.

Mr. Wimmer is also a graduate of Heritage High School and received a B.A. degree in History and Chemistry from the University of South Carolina. He is a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Salem.

He is the grandson of Mrs. Frank J. Worley of Roanoke and the late Frank J. Worley and the late Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Wimmer.

The wedding is planned for July 27, 1996, at First Christian Church.

Jones-Tu

Mr. and Mrs. Joel Lee Jones of New Canton are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Leigh, to Michael Min Tu, son of Dr. and Mrs. Quang Ngoc Tu of Roanoke.

Miss Jones graduated from Longwood College in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and received her Masters in Business Administration from James Madison University in 1994. She is currently teaching at the Lansdale School of Business in Lansdale, Pa.

Mr. Tu graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He is currently enrolled in the Masters of Business Administration Program at Penn State University. Mr. Tu is a Customer Account Manager with Merck & Company in West Point, Pa.

A June wedding in St. Lucia is planned.

Kayser-Abels

Mr. and Mrs. William W. Kayser of Vinton, Va., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Karen Elizabeth, to Douglas James Abels of Omaha, Neb.

Miss Kayser graduated from William Byrd High School in 1992 and is currently a senior at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. In May of 1996 she will receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.

Mr. Abels is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Abels of Omaha, Neb. He graduated from Midwestern Baptist Academy in 1992 and is also a senior at Bob Jones University. He will receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education.

The couple is planning a June 1, 1996 wedding in Roanoke, Va.

Lorish-Walker

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lorish of Daleville, Va., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Starr, to Robert Earl Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence R. Walker of Huddleston, Va. Elizabeth is a retail manager at Nuts About Chocolate, Valleyview Mall. Robert is employed at BellSouth Communication Systems. A July 1996 wedding is planned

Robertson-Tucker

Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson Robertson, Jr. of Salem announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Ann of Richmond, Virginia, to Stephen Bryant Tucker, Jr. of Ashland, Virginia. He is the son of Mrs. Susan Buckingham Tucker of Danville, Virginia, and Mr. Stephen Bryant Tucker of Rosewell, Georgia.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Salem High School and Randolph Macon College. She is employed by Hanover County Public Schools.

The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of George Washington High School and Randolph Macon College. He is employed by Circuit City Stores, Incorporated.

A June wedding is planned.

Swartz-Polk

Mr. and Mrs. C. Eugene Swartz of Roanoke are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Julia Lee, to David Lawrence Polk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Polk of Baldwin, Maryland.

Miss Swartz is a graduate of Randolph Macon College and is employed as a teacher by Hanover County Schools, in Mechanicsville, Va. Mr. Polk is a graduate of Randolph Macon College and is attending The Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland.

A June wedding is planned.
