WRECK HALTS TRAFFIC FOR 4 HOURS

closed southbound Interstate 81 for four hours Wednesday afternoon

as crews cleaned up a small spill of an unknown chemical substance.

Two tractor-trailers and a rental truck had slowed for traffic near

the Hanging Rock exit when another tractor-trailer struck the third

vehicle, pushing it into the other two. About five to 10 gallons of

an unidentified chemical spilled from the third vehicle. The driver

of the fourth truck, Freedy Word, 56, of Rockbridge Baths was

charged with following too closely. No one was hurt. color.
