Spring Craft Show needs artisans

The Junior Woman's Club and the Woman's Club of Vinton are seeking artisans for their annual Spring Craft Show, which will be May 3 and 4 at Lake Drive Plaza, Vinton.

The clubs also will sponsor a Community Health Fair on May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in conjunction with the craft show. For more information, call 890-6760.

MDA seeks camp counselors

Volunteer summer camp counselors are needed by the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Central and Southwest Virginia. Men and women 18 and older may qualify to help disabled children and teen-agers.

Salem needs money to buy stock trout

The 1996 Ernest "Pig" Robertson Trout Fishing Rodeos will be held May 11-17.

The Salem Parks and Recreation Department is seeking contributions to help purchase the trout that will be caught by youngsters and disabled adults. Contributions may be sent to the City of Salem Department of Parks and Recreation at 216 S. Broad St., P.O. Box 869, Salem 24153. For more information, call 375-3057.

Slowpitch softball tournament set

The 16th annual Miller Lite Chance Crawford Benefit Slowpitch Softball Tournament will be held April 26-28 in Salem.

The entry fee is $125 per team for U.S.S.S.A.-sanctioned teams in men's Class B, C, D and recreation divisions and for women's Class B or C.

The fee is $150 for men's and women's open/A divisions. Add an extra $20 for unsanctioned teams in each category.

The deadline for entries is Friday at 5 p.m. or when 210 teams have been accepted. For information or entry form, call 375-3057 or 387-2788.

Red Cross golf tourney set for June 10

The 10th annual Red Cross Golf Tournament to benefit disaster relief will be June 10 at Hanging Rock Golf Course in Salem. Entry fees for the competition are $400 per foursome and $100 for single players. Prizes will include greens fees at top Virginia golfing spots including The Homestead Resort, Greenbrier Resort, The Virginia Golf Club and Wintergreen Resort.

Volunteers needed for Day of Caring

The United Way is recruiting volunteers to help with the fourth annual Day of Caring June 26. More than 140 service projects will take place as part of the one-day event ranging from cleaning and computer work to construction to sing-a-longs with the elderly.
