NOTES ON CAMPUS

Christopher Boyd has been elected president of the Student Government Association at Lynchburg College. Boyd is a junior in communication studies. He is the son of Dianne Boyd of Christiansburg.

Amy Ney of Blacksburg has been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious academic honor society, at Mary Washington College. Ney is one of 39 students at the college to be inducted into the society this year.

She is a junior majoring in biology. She's been on the dean's list or the president's list during her entire college career. She is a member of the pre-med club and Chi Beta Phi, the national honorary scientific fraternity. A 1993 graduate of Blacksburg High School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ney of Blacksburg.

Susan A. Cox of Riner recently was initiated into Virginia Epsilon Chapter of Pi Gamma Mu at Radford University. The organization is the international honor society in social sciences. Cox is majoring in statistics and mathematics.

Eight students from New River Community College have been named to the 1996 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. The students were honored earlier this month at the college's annual academic awards program. The students are:

Stephen Holmes of Blacksburg, who is majoring in general studies.

Reba Smart of Christiansburg, who will graduate in May with degrees in accounting and business management.

Susan Nester of Galax, who will graduate in May with a degree in early childhood education.

Jason Owens of Pilot, who will graduate in May with a degree in instrumentation.

Jeffrey Duncan of Pulaski, who will complete requirements for a degree in business administration in July.

Brenda Lowe of Dublin, who will graduate in May with a degree in business management.

Christine Ohlen of Pulaski, who is majoring in human services and early childhood education.

Lori Shelburne of Hiwassee is majoring in business administration.
