REEDY REGISTERS 1ST VICTORY AT FCS

Daleville's Orvil Reedy made the most of his opportunities Saturday night and won the Hoosier Tire 300 Late Model Stock race at Franklin County Speedway.

Reedy was the winner of the pole, but a new rule which inverted the field put Collinsville's Jimmy Mullins out front to start the race.

Mullins did not last long as his Chevrolet Monte Carlo broke a rod on the 25th lap and Larry Hodges moved into the lead. Hodges held the lead for 45 laps with Dudley Lawhorne, who has won three races at FCS this season, right behind him.

Hodges and Lawhorne got tangled up late in the race and Reedy assumed the lead. He never trailed in winning his first race at the track this season. Rocky Mount's John Hall was second, followed by Hodges, Todd Philpott and Buster Carroll. Lawhorne finished ninth and Mullins was 15th in the 100-lap feature.

In other divisions:

Roanoke's Wayne Corprew came from the fifth starting position to win the Limited Sportsman race over Mike Dudley. Dudley held on to second place, which changed hands a whopping 18 times in 35 laps. Doug McBride was third, followed by Leon Dalton and Fred Goff.

In the Pure Stock division, Kelly Kingery took the checkered flag, but was disqualified after the race. Jay Peery thus won the race with Tom Dooley coming in second. Kevin Ransome was third, Joe Taylor finished fourth and Matt Taylor came in fifth.

Collinsville's Gary Joyce won the Mini Stock race with Chris Martin finishing second. Dennis Sloan was third followed by Mike Hall and Richard Doss.

In the Rookie Division, Steve Cannaday of Martinsville came in first with Scott Foley of Redwood in second and 15-year-old Kenny Sowers of Floyd finishing third. Patrick Evans won the Any Car race and Scott Zysk won the Demolition Derby title.
