CYCLIST INJURES ROANOKE OFFICER

A foot patrol officer was injured Sunday night while trying to stop a motorcyclist for a traffic violation in Northwest Roanoke.

Officer Marvin C. Brown Jr. was treated and released from Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for internal bruises and knee injuries.

Police gave this account: About 9:53 p.m. Brown tried to stop the motorcyclist in the 4900 block of Salem Turnpike Northwest.

When the rider accelerated away, Brown grabbed the young man's shoulder and was pulled along for about 20 feet. Police are still looking for the motorcyclist.
