Montgomery-Sutphin

Katrina Lynn Sutphin and Jeff Todd Montgomery were married June 29, 1996 in Northview United Methodist Church. Rev. R.C. Wagner officiated. The reception was held at the Airport Holiday Inn.

The maid of honor was Kari Leigh Sutphin, sister. The matron of honor was LaVon Kay Benson, sister. The bridesmaid was Corrina Montgomery, sister-in-law. They wore Amethyst suits and carried three white long stem roses. Flowergirl was Darlene Morris, friend.

The best man was Matthew Montgomery, the groom's son. The ushers were Dean Montgomery, brother, and Tim Maxey, friend. Ringbearer was Phillip Morris. The guestbook attendant was Faye Murray. The bride's gown was by Alfred Angelo, made of white satin with a monastery train appliqued with seven white satin roses. She carried a bouquet of Amethyst and white flowers with satin streamers.

The bride is a daughter of George and Mary Sutphin of Salem. She is a graduate of Northside High School and VWCC, and is employed by Transkirt.

The bridegroom, son of L.T. and Patsy Montgomery of Vinton, is a graduate of William Byrd High School, and is employed by Kroger, Mid-Atlantic Division.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke City.

Payton-Johnson

Lori Renee Johnson & Daryl Spencer Payton were married Saturday, June 8, 1996 at Williams Memorial Baptist Church, Roanoke.

The Rev. Paul E. Johnson and Rev. Vater C. Colbert officiated the evening ceremony. Escorted by her father, the bride was given in marriage by her parents.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert R. Johnson Sr. of Roanoke.

The groom is the son of Mr. Alton Lee Payton Sr. of Trenton, N.J. and the late Ella Payton.

Ms Julie Simmons and Ms. Charese Thompson, sorors of the bride, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Ms. Amelia Clark, Ms. Latheasha Hinton, Ms. Rosalyn Hobson, Ms. Lisa Jackson, Ms. Beverly Payton, Ms. Karen Scott and Ms. Simone Thompson. Mr. Ron Payton and Mr. Alton Lee Payton Jr., brothers of the groom, were best men. Groomsmen were Mr. Jerry Bercutti, Mr. Ed Bramble, Mr. William Dockery, Mr. James Green, Mr. Keith Hudson, fraternity brother of the groom, Mr. Jamil Lynch and Mr. Brad Milton. Flowergirls were Quia na Fairfax, LaKesia Johnson, Ellie Payton, LaTosha Virgil, and Danielle Virgil. Ring bearer was Corey Payton. Greg King Photography did photography of the wedding & reception. An elegant reception was held at the Airport Sheraton Inn. After a honeymoon trip to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, the couple will live in Durham, North Carolina.

Prosperi-Lambert

Doris Lambert and Samuel Prosperi were united in Holy Matrimony on June 29 at Community Advent Christian Church. The Rev. T. G. Ayers officiated.

Rice-Collins

The marriage of Dawn Renee' Collins to Eric Coleman Rice took place at 3 p.m., June 29 at Bedford Baptist Church, with Dr. David Henderson, Pastor of the Church officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Shirley Collins of Bedford and the late Donald Ray Collins. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rice of Bedford.

Mrs. Mitzie Markham was her sister's matron of honor and attendants were Jennifer Collins, sister of the bride; and Christy Aud, friend of the bride and groom. Mr. Rice was best man for his son and ushers were Phillip Nichols, brother-in-law of the groom; and Brandon Aud, friend of the bride and groom. Cory and Ryan Nichols, nephews of the groom, were ring bearers.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Church Fellowhsip Hall and a small post wedding party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rice.

The bride is a graduate of Radford University. She is employed as a teacher for the Summer Enrichment Program at Bedford Elementary School.

The groom is a senior at Radford University where he is pursuing a degree in middle school education. He is currently employed by Sweet Briar College in the Telecommunications Department.

After a wedding trip to Charleston and Kiawah Island, South Carolina, the couple will reside in Bedford.

Riddleberger-Miller

Kathleen E. Miller and Tony L. Riddleberger were married Saturday, May 25, 1996, at the Oak View Church of God in Vinton, with the Rev. Wayne Powell officiating. The bride is the daughter of Samuel G. Miller and the late Kathleen S. Miller of Goodview. The groom is the son of Hidy D. Riddleberger Jr. & Claudean L. Riddleberger of Goodview.

A private, double ring ceremony was held with only the parents attending.

Photos were taken by the Rev. Powell's wife.

A small family reception followed at the home of the bride's brother.

The couple have made their home in Goodview.

Robeson-Bass

Ann Pendleton Bass and Eric Carl Robeson were married June 29, 1996 at Bethel Baptist Church, Yorktown, Va. by Rev. Franklin Hall.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Armstrong. She graduated from Blacksburg High School and Va. Western Community College, Rke., Va., where she majored in Computer Science. She is employed as a Secretary for the City of Newport News, Landscaping.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.N. Robeson of Yorktown, Va. He graduated from Tabb High School and Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va. where he majored in Engineering. He is employed as an Aerospace Engineer at Fort Eustis.

The maid of honor was Susan Batts, close friend of the bride. Mr. C.N. Robeson was his son's best man.

The bridesmaids were Donna Grubbs, sister of the bride, Cindy Sours, and Cathy Martin, friends of the bride.

Groomsmen were Mark Robeson, Tommy Rob eson, brothers of the groom, and David Snyder, friend of the groom.

The flower girl was Ashley Robeson, niece of the groom. Ring bearer was Travis Grubbs, nephew of the bride.

Soloists were Lane Spratley, who introduced the bride and groom, and Mr. and Mrs. John Boquist.

A reception was held following the wedding at Bethel Baptist.

The bride and groom wish to thank all of the family for making their day so memorable. Special thanks to Sara Vasvary, aunt of the bride, Micki Price, and Steve Grubbs.

Rodier-Ptaschek

Karen Lynn Ptaschek and Shawn Michael Rodier were married June 22, 1996 in Saint Andrews Catholic Church with visiting Father Cedric Wilson officiating. The reception was held at the Marriott.

Matron of honor was Helen Christine Stump of Roanoke, close friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Juliet Dearing of Fairfax, Heather Lynn Robertson of Centreville, and Mary Sasser of Alexandria, all friends of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Kylie Morris of Fairfax, niece of the groom. Flowergirls were Laura Elizabeth Kubic of Crofton, Md., and Catherine Frances Levy of Roanoke, nieces of the bride .

The best man was Howard M. Ballentine of Fairfax, friend of the groom. Ushers were J. Scott Martin of Fairfax, Christian Campbell of Alexandria, friends of the groom; Jonah R. DeCola of New York, and Michael H. DeCola of New York, cousins of the groom. Ringbearer was Austin M. Morris of Fairfax, nephew of the groom. Lectors were Laurence Levy, brother-in-law of the bride, and Stephen Rodier. Beth Levy was programs attendant, and Kelly Bradshaw was guestbook attendant. Music minister was Mark DuVall; soloist was Cheryl Kressge; trumpeter was Mark Camphouse.

The bride's gown was sweetheart styling of white Italian satin trimmed with pearls. She carried a nosegay of white and pink roses with baby's breath.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ptaschek of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Radford University. She is employed by CIC Systems in McLean, Va.

The groom is the son of Ms. Sharon Rodier of Centreville, Va., and the late Col. Michael Rodier and Sue Meador-Rodier. He is a graduate of Fairfax High School and Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. He is employed by Lockheed Martin.

The newlyweds will live in Sterling, Virginia, after their wedding trip to Granada.

Ruble-Noell

YESTERDAY-Saturday the 29th of June, my son, Patrick Taylor Ruble was married to Dana Anne Noell at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church in Roanoke.

Although circumstances beyond my control kept me from attending this very special event, I would like to assure Taylor and Dana that I was with them, both in my thoughts and my prayers.

Taylor is the son of W. Thomas Ruble of Goodview, and Janet B. Griesenbeck of Roanoke. He is employed at Corrugated Container Corporation in Roanoke.

Dana is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas S. Noell of Roanoke. She is employed with the Salem School System.

After a honeymoon in Kiawah Island, the couple plan to make their home in Roanoke.

It is my hope and desire that they will always be as happy as they were on this special Day.

Shaver-Long

Mary Elizabeth Long and Richard Dale Shaver were married June 1, 1996 in Gateway Baptist Church. Rev. Dewey Weaver officiated. A reception was held at the Moose Lodge of Christiansburg.

The maid of honor was Julie Goff, friend. Bridesmaids were Melissa Brakefield, Tina Price, and Cindy Wellons, all friends of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Katie Lawrence and Megan Long, both cousins of the bride. Flowergirls were Laura Long, cousin of the bride, and Kayleigh Trump, cousin of the groom.

Best man was Kevin Simmons, friend of the groom. Ushers were Alan Carter, Ricky Smith, and Jimmy Via, all friends of the groom. Ringbearer was Justin Owens, friend of the bride and groom. The candlelighter was Jonathan Long, brother of the bride.

The bri de's gown was ivory satin with a heart shaped neckline with off-the-shoulder sleeves. Iridescent sequins and pearls were on the long tapered sleeves, fitted bodice, around the bottom of a full skirt, and trimmed and decorated a semi-cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of ivory lilies and ivory roses draped with ivy, pearls and lace.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geary B. Long of Floyd. She is a graduate of Shawsville High School, Shawsville, and is employed by Shawsville Family Practice.

The bridegroom, son of Mrs. Carolyn Izon of Lusters Gate, Blacksburg, is a graduate of Christiansburg High School, Christiansburg. He is employed by Thomas Reynolds Construction.

The newlyweds will live in Christiansburg, Va. after the wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Shoop-Rivers

The marriage of Miss Elizabeth Ann Rivers and Darreld Russell Shoop, III took place on June 29, 1996, at Cambria Baptist Church, Christiansburg, Virginia. Reverend Darreld R. Shoop, I, grandfather of the groom, and Dr. Maurice T. McCarthy, Jr. off iciated at the 7 o'clock p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Jane J. Rivers of Christiansburg, Va. and Ted Rivers of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Elizabeth is a 1995 graduate of Virginia Tech and is employed by the Baptist Student Union in Blacksburg, Va. Elizabeth is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ruth M. Jennings.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Darreld R. Shoop, II of Clifton, Va. and the late Diane C. Shoop. Dale is a 1996 graduate of Virginia Tech and is employed by Sears in Christiansburg, Virginia. Grandparents of the groom are Rev. and Mrs. Darreld R. Shoop, I of Goochland, Va. and Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Clary of Gasburg, Va.

Angela R. Drake of Clifton, Va. was her sister's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Evans and Melanie Lambert, friends of the bride, and Angela Colley and Cassandra Colley, stepsisters of the groom. Flower girl was Nicole Colley, and ringbearer was Kathrine Taylor Drake, niece of the bride.

Darreld R. Shoop, II, was his son's best man. Ushers were T.C. Shoop, brother of the groom, Eric McMullen, Fred Glover and Jason Shaffer, friends of the groom.

Family candles on the unity candle were lit by Robert S. Jennings, uncle of the bride, and T.C. Shoop, brother of the groom, in memory of Mr. J.D. Jennings, maternal grandfather of the bride and Mr. and Mrs. L.F. Rivers, fraternal grandparents of the bride, as well as Diane C. Shoop, mother of the groom.

A program of wedding music was presented by Katherine Breske and Candi Ree. The flowers for the wedding were prepared by Sharon Shoop, stepmother of the groom. Directing the wedding was Mrs. Lucy Draper of Christiansburg, Va. The reception was held at the Farmhouse with Mona Murphy assisting.

Liz and Dale will be at home in Blacksburg, Virginia after a honeymoon in Nassau, Bahamas.

Tucker-Robertson

Barbara Ann Robertson of Richmond, Virginia and Stephen Bryant Tucker, Jr. of Ashland, Virginia were married Saturday, June 29, 1996 at four o'clock in the afternoon at First United Methodist Church in Salem, Virginia. The Reverend Thomas Lee Joyce officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Judith Snyder, organist; Mr. William Snyder, vocalist; Mr. Paul DeBoer, trumpeter; and string trio, Mrs. Annamarie Kresge, Mr. David Lipps and Miss Erica Lipps.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson Robertson , Jr. of Salem, Virginia, and the granddaughter of Mr. James Anderson Robertson of Danville, Virginia, and the late Mrs. Robertson, and also the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Elwood Cole.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Susan Buckingham Tucker of Danville, Virginia, and Mr. Stephen Bryant Tucker, Sr. of Roswell, Georgia. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Freelin Tucker of Danville, Virginia, and Mrs. Donald Young Buckingham of Asheville, North Carolina, and the late Mr. Buckingham.

The maid of honor was Miss Kristen Carol Nunnally of Lynchburg, Virginia. Bridesmaids were Miss Deborah Ann Payne, cousin of the bride of Birmingham, Alabama; Miss Hope Sherie Thompson of Norfolk, Virginia; and Miss Courtney Buckingham Tucker, sister of the groom of Danville, Virginia.

Mr. Stephen Bryant Tucker was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Tyler Akers Handy of Greensboro, North Carolina; Mr. William Austin Harper of Danville, Virginia; Mr. Gary Christopher McBride of Danville, Virginia; Dr. Samuel Kirk Payne, cousin of the bride of Charlottesville, Virginia; Mr. James Anderson Robertson, III, brother of the bride of Salem, Virginia; and Mr. Stuart Aiken Tucker, uncle of the groom of Greensboro, North Carolina.

The crucifer was Mr. David Burke Walker of Salem, Virginia, and the acolytes were Miss Aimee Lauren Barber and Miss Sarah Elizabeth Tate of Salem, Virginia.

The reception as held at Roanoke Country Club. After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Richmond, Virginia.

Tweedy-Pullen

The marriage of Carletha R. Pullen to Ronald E. Tweedy took place May 25, 1996, at 7:00 p.m. at Popular Springs Baptist Church in Goode, Va., with Rev. D. J. Waynes and Rev. Phillip Brown officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Betty Otey Pullen of Roanoke, Va., and the late John Edward Pullen of Bedford. The groom is the son of Wyatt Edmund Tweedy and Marian Scott Tweedy of Rustburg, Va.

Ms. Jerri (Fancy) E. Pullen, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Ms. Regina G. Tweedy, sister of the groom, and Cynthia Y. Payne, friend of the bride. Miss Jessica Ferguson, niece of the groom, was the junior bridesmaid and flower girl.

Mr. Dwight Jones, cousin of the groom, was best man, and Mr. Paul Coles, Jr. and Mr. Craig Terrell, friends of the groom, were the groomsmen. The groom is a graduate of Rustburg High School and is employed by Seckman Printing.

After a wedding trip to Walt Disney World, Fla., the couple will live in Lynchburg.

Wilmer-Donahue

The marriage of Patricia Lynn Donahue and William Todd Wilmer took place on Saturday, June 1, 1996 at Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Kilmarnock, Va.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Donahue of Roanoke.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Wilmer of Regina, Va.

April Baumgarten of Lexington, Ky. served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lisa Becker of Fredericksburg; Amy Hawkins of Blacksburg; and Erin Wilmer, sister of the groom of Regina. Erin Lipscomb of Salem was the flower girl.

Keith Wilmer of Regina served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Michael Brent of Regina; Danny O'Bier of Callao; and Christopher (Moose) Bruce of White Stone. Matthew Lipscomb of Salem was the ringbearer.

Janet P. Lewis, aunt of the groom, served as mistress of ceremonies. Melinda Revere provided the music for the service.

A reception immediately followed the ceremony at the Upper Lancaster Ruritan Center in Lively, Va.

After a honeymoon trip to Georgia, the couple will reside in Roanoke, Va.
