Construction company names VP

J. LINGON "LYNN" JONES JR. has been appointed vice president of construction at Charles W. Barger & Son Construction Co. Inc. in Lexington.

Jones is a registered engineer in Virginia, South Carolina and Florida. His experience includes steel fabrication and construction, general contracting, contract administration and business management.

He formerly was vice president of engineering and construction with Reco Industries Inc. in Richmond, chief executive officer of Exceletech Inc. in Florida and owner/president of J-4 Industries Inc. and J-4 Construction Services Inc. in Texas.

AUTOMOTIVE

TOM GROTON has been promoted to managing partner of Import Auto Recycling Inc. in Salem. Groton, who has been with the company since 1984, previously was wholesale accounts manager. In his new position, he will oversee wholesale accounts, shipping and receiving, and the core exchange programs for individual and business customers nationwide.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT

TIM SENZ has been promoted to general manager for the lift truck business group at Carter Machinery Co. Inc., the Salem-based distributor for Caterpillar power systems, earthmoving equipment and lift trucks. Senz joined Carter in 1993 as used lift truck manager. He most recently held positions with Caterpillar Lift Trucks in Mentor, Ohio, and Nashville, Tenn. He will be based in Richmond, overseeing the company's eight Virginia lift truck operations.

MANUFACTURING

RONALD ALLEN GUILLIAMS has been promoted to plant superintendent of Mod-U-Kraf Homes Inc.'s No.1 plant in Rocky Mount. Guilliams, formerly material and component coordinator, has 17 years of experience in the sectional home industry.

EUGENE MATTOX has joined Mod-U-Kraf as materials coordinator. He will be responsible for maintaining inventory for the company's 11-stage assembly process. He is a 33-year veteran of the building and construction industry, the last 14 years at Mod-U-Kraf as purchasing manager.

MEDICINE

DR. MASTON McCORKLE JR. of Roanoke has been installed as president of the Virginia Association of Orthodontists. DR. DAVID JONES of Martinsville has been elected a director of the association.

MORTGAGE LENDING

DONNA CHOCKLETT, former branch sales manager for Household Finance Corp., has joined Mortgage Investment Corp. in Roanoke. In her new position, Chocklett will be originating loans for home improvements and debt consolidation and will pre-qualify clients for new home purchases.

NATURAL RESOURCES

JOHN MICHENER, former vice president and general manager of Botetourt County-based James River Limestone Co. Inc., and KEVIN MANN, former vice president-sales of the company, have joined Global Stone James River in Buchanan. Global Stone Corp., based in Ontario, Canada, acquired the principal assets of James River Limestone in June and is now the sixth largest lime producer in North America.

ORGANIZATIONS

LORETTA WILLIAMS has been elected Woman of the Year by the Longwood Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. Williams is the employee benefits administrator for John W. Hancock Jr. Inc. in Salem, where she has been employed for 24 years.

The Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association has elected MICHAEL CHANDLER to a two-year term as president. Chandler is a community planning specialist with Virginia Tech's Cooperative Extension Service. He succeeds TERRY HARRINGTON, Roanoke County planning director, who will assume the duties of past president of the chapter.

REAL ESTATE

G. WILLIAM GEARHART JR., principal broker with Gearhart-Stevens Realtors of Roanoke, has been reappointed by Gov. George Allen to a four-year term on the Real Estate Board of Virginia. Gearhart is currently chairman of the Real Estate Board and is also a director of the National Association of Realtors.

OFFICE SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT|

ROY L. McCORMICK JR., founder and past president of The Office Supply Center of Roanoke, has joined Office Suppliers Inc., also based in Roanoke, as a senior account executive. He has more than 30 years of experience in the office supply industry.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

TYRONE MORRIS has been hired as a communications consultant at OneStar Long Distance Inc.'s Roanoke office. He previously was employed as an insurance agent for the Aon Corp. Indiana-based OneStar Long Distance, formerly Telstar Communications, is a reseller of long-distance communications and has been providing long-distance services since 1982.

WHOLESALE

ED REYNOLDS has been promoted to corporate manager, strategic accounts for Williams Supply Inc., an independent electrical wholesale distributor based in Roanoke. Reynolds, who formerly managed the company's Roanoke branch, will work from the corporate offices in Roanoke.

STEVE HALE has been promoted to corporate manager, sales and marketing for the company. Hale previously managed the Harrisonburg branch of Williams Supply and will move to the corporate offices, where he will also assume management of the Roanoke branch sales departments.

JEFF NEWMAN has been named manager of the company's Harrisonburg branch, a full-service operation serving the Shenandoah Valley and Charlottesville.
