JIMMY MULLINS works his way through the field to win the feature race at Franklin County Speedway.
Jimmy Mullins overcame a first-lap spinout to win the Comfort Homes 300 Late Model Stock feature race at Franklin County Speedway on Saturday night.
Mullins was sent to the back of the field after he and Lowe Smith nearly wrecked in the first lap, worked his way through traffic and took advantage of a caution on lap 79 to get back into the lead group.
With John Hall leading and Todd Philpott close behind, pole-sitter Dudley Lawhorne spun out on lap 79, giving Mullins the break he needed.
Mullins pressured Philpott into a spin on lap 89 and took the lead after the caution. Philpott's night was over. Mullins went on to win, with Bill Bratton second, Lawhorne third and Hall fourth.
In other racing Saturday night:
* Mike Dudley avoided several wrecks to win the Limited Sportsman division.
Curtis Howell wrecked on lap five to end his night and Skip Bennington, Jerry Wilkerson and Chad Smith got tangled on lap 17 after Fred Goff spun out and spewed oil onto the track.
Skip Bennington went out on lap 22 after his right rear tire came off the car.
Dudley avoided all this to win for the eighth time.
* In the Pure Stocks, Red Hartman ended a six-week layoff with a win, followed by Jay Peery and Junior Lester.
* In the Mini Stocks, Dennis Sloan took the win and took the $200 bounty on Gary Joyce. Carlton Clark was second and James Cox third.
* Steve Cannaday won easily in the Rookie division, followed by Bob Cregger and Tommy Hall.
* Larry Brown picked up his first career win in the Any Car race.
* Regina Chaney won the 14-woman Powder Puff race.
