Henry St. Festival

The seventh annual Henry Street Heritage Festival will be presented by the Harrison Museum of African American Culture on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Elmwood Park, downtown Roanoke.

The event showcases the heritage and culture of African Americans through visual arts performances, children's activities and sales of ethnic and traditional foods and Afrocentric gifts, apparel, jewelry and crafts. In addition, volunteers from nonprofit organizations will share health, membership and cultural information.

The pre-festival activity will be ``Disco Night,'' a fund-raiser for future festivals, to be held Sept. 27 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Lowell's Restaurant and Supper Club. The cost will be $5 per person. No tennis shoes, denim or blue jeans will be permitted.

Volunteers are needed to staff the activities and programs areas. Call 345-4818 or stop by the museum for more information.

Gamblers Anonymous

Gamblers Anonymous of Lynchburg meets every Friday night at 8 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 9224 Timberlake Road.
