AUSTIN, Marie-Therese Laura Cobbaert Arbogast, 69, of Buchanan, died Friday, September 20, 1996. Born in Charleoui, Belgium to the late Aimee Desiree and Camille Cobbaert, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Preston Austin. Survivors include her children, Gino and Peggy Arbogast, Steve and Pam Austin, Debbie and Kenneth Mowles, all of Buchanan, Donna and Lee Wall, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; her grandchildren, Laura and Chad Epperly, Camille and Jimmy Adams, Jessica Arbogast, Kasey and Shannon Austin, Megan and Andrew Wall, Aimee and Christopher Mowles; her great-granddaughter, Jordan Epperly; and special friends, Cherry Ramsey and her daughter, Erica. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, September 23, 1996 in the Trinity Episcopal Church with Pastor Guy A. Ritter officiating. Interment will folow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. AYERS, Nelson Maxie Sr., 72, of 107 New Faison Lane, Knightdale, N.C., died suddenly, Saturday, September 21, 1996 at Rex Hospital. Mr. Ayers had retired with 42 years of service as a Sales Representative with M.W. Manufacturers. He was an active member of the Raleigh Power Squadron 24th district, a charter member of North Raleigh United Methodist Church and was presently attending Bethlehem Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 23, 1996 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Knightdale, N.C. Burial will be in Raleigh Memorial Park. LONG, Rodney Minor, 75, of Roanoke, died Saturday, September 21, 1996, at the VA Medical Center. He also was retired from the VA Medical Center in Salem. He was U.S. Navy veteran, with three and a half years of service. H e was preceded in death by his son, Steven R. Long. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Dare Long; one son, Tony Phillip Long of Roanoke; a daughter and son-in-law, Annette Elizabeth and Roger Caldwell of Lebanon; a daughter, Jeanette Gail Long of Roanoke; a daughter-in-law, June B. Long of Roanoke; two brothers, Earl Long of Roanoke and Marion (``Doc"") Long of Salem; a sister, Evelyn Zini Henry of Salem, and three grandchildren, Daniel Caldwell, Robert Caldwell and Payne Hagy Long. OWENS, Junior Lee, 74, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, September 21, 1996 at his home. The son of the late Arthur and Ethel Owens, he was also preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert, Douglas, Walter, George and Fred Owens; one sister, Mary Owens as well as his wife, Elva Mae Owe ns. Surviving include his daughter, Margaret Nelson, Blacksburg; one grandson, Kenneth Lee Nelson, Christiansburg; three brothers, Clifford Owens, Clinton, Tenn., Frank Owens, Princeton, W.Va., Ralph Owens, Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Sue Osburn, Helen Beard both of Princeton, W.Va. SHEPHERD, Rosa Elizabeth, 96, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burley Shepherd; two daught ers; and one son. Mrs. Shepherd was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salem for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Bettye M. Shepherd, Washington, D.C. and Annie Belle Manns, Roanoke; five grandchildren, Patricia and Gina Shepherd, Washington, D.C., Nancy Marshall, Lexington, Ky., Clifford Stuart, Springfield, and William Stuart, Silver Spring, Md.; three great-grandchildren, Corey Marshall I, Miranda Shepherd, and Cory Marshall II, all of Washington, D.C.; a daughter-in-law, Nin Shepherd, Washington, D.C.; two special friends, Elizabeth Lawson, Salem, and Shirley Powell, Roanoke; a host of other relatives and friends. STANLEY, Audrey Lula Puckett, 87, of Hillsville, died Thursday, September 19, 1996, at the home of her daughter, Carole Lee Quesinberry of Walkertown, N.C. She was born in Indiana on April 14, 1909, to the late Falus Puckett and the late Mable Bolt Puckett, but spent most of her life in the Patrick-Carroll County area. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Stanley; two brothers, Serle Puckett and Maynard Puckett, and one sister, Evelyn Turman. She is survived by two daughters, Carole Lee Quesinberry of Walkertown, N.C., and Hilda Vivier of Hillsville; two sons, Earl Stanley of Lexington and Nelson Stanley of Patrick Springs; three sisters, Kathryn Harris of Abingdon, Nina Westmoreland of Hillsville and Geraldine Terry of Meadows of Dan; two brothers, Paul Puckett of Claudville and Rayton Puckett of Bristol, Va.; 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Stanley will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Pilot View Baptist Church, with the Revs. Clarence Marshall and Home Bowman officiating.
