CRASH BACKS UP TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE 81 FOR MORE THAN THREE HOURS

traffic on Interstate 81 for more than three hours Sunday afternoon

(right). At 2:45 p.m., James Moody of Dillsburg, Pa., fell asleep at

the wheel and his truck ran off the left side of the interstate,

according to police. The truck, a double tractor-trailer,struck an

embankment and overturned. Moody was taken to Carilion Roanoke

Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and

released. Traffic was backed up for miles from the Troutville exit,

where the accident occurred, to the Interstate-581 interchange

while rescue workers prepared for a wrecker service to clear the

road for travel (above).
