CAKES FOR THE COURTHOUSE

LENGTH: Short : 25 lines
ILLUSTRATION: PHOTO: PAUL DELLINGER/Staff. Businesses, churches and civic

groups pitched in to make sure everybody who wanted a piece of

birthday cake got one Saturday during the celebration of the 100th

birthday of the Pulaski County Courthouse. Food, music and vendors

lined the section of Main Street by the courthouse for the annual

Count Pulaski Day Festival. The celebration had a special interest

this year because of recent speculation that the bones of

Revolutionary War hero Count Casimir Pulaski, who joined the

Colonists and gave his life in their fight against England, had been

uncovered in Savannah, Ga. Juggling clowns, Smokey Bear and other

costumed characters performed during the day for the crowds. color.
