Tracy Shiflett, a Staunton resident with experience in a variety of programs now involved with the town of Pulaski, has been hired as its new economic development specialist.
He will assist Pulaski Economic Developer Barry Matherly, in a municipal department created by Pulaski less than two years ago, to improve the town's economy and seek new and expanded business and industrial opportunities.
Shiflett, who will move to Pulaski early next month, has experience with the Virginia Enterprise Zone program, Virginia Main Street program and tourism projects through his work with the Staunton Department of Economic Development and Staunton Downtown Development Association.
He will begin his new job in Pulaski Nov. 11.
A graduate of Blue Ridge Community College and James Madison University, he earned a master's degree in public administration from the University of Virginia this year.
