Adams anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Adams celebrated their 50th anniversary on November 10, 1996. The celebration was held at the Waidsboro Ruritan Building, in Franklin County. It was hosted by Elmer and Brenda Adams Arrington.
The couple was married February 11, 1946. Mr. Adams is a retired builder. Mrs. Adams is retired from DuPont.
Many dear friends and beloved family members helped them to celebrate this special occasion.
Altice anniversary
Russell and Geraldine Altice of Glade Hill celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary Saturday, November 16 with a weekend celebration at Hotel Roanoke with their family. A surprise celebration was held Sunday, November 10, with friends and family which was hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Richard Law and granddaughters Leslie and Julie.
Barger anniversary
Howard C. and Catherine Barger celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 31, 1996. A dinner in their honor was hosted by their children. They have four children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Barger is retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad.

Brooks anniversary
Deming and Eleanor Brooks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary November 30, 1996. They were honored by their children, grandchildren and friends at a reception at the Villa Heights Baptist Church. He is retired from the Sherwin Williams Paint Company and she from Leggett Department Store.
Hodges anniversary
Buford M. and Dorothy Q. Hodges celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 30, 1996. They were married November 30, 1946, in Altavista, Va. Buford is retired from the U.S. Postal Service, and Dorothy is retired from Roanoke County Schools.
They have two sons, Buford M. (Boots) Hodges, Jr., and David E. Hodges, two daughters, Lelia Ann Slusher and Mary K. Gardner.
Pagans anniversary
Grover C. and Sallie H. Pagans celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 11, 1996. They were married in Greensboro, N.C. and have been residents of Vinton, Va. since November, 1946.
Grover and Sallie celebrated their anniversary with their children and grandchildren during a trip to Ocean Isle, North Carolina. Their children are G. Kenneth Pagans of Corpus Christi, Texas, Sheryl P. Vaden of Vinton, Va., Stephen L. Pagans of West Monroe, La., and Carolyn P. Gilmer of Glenwood, North Carolina. They have nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Grover is retired from General Electric. Sallie is retired from Community Hospital. Sallie is the former Sallie L. Hackworth of Leesville, Va.
Prillaman anniversary
Curtis F. and Eva C. Prillaman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner party at Hotel Roanoke hosted by their children. The couple was united in marriage November 27, 1946, in Tazewell, Va., by the Rev. Dr. T. A. Freeman. Mrs. Prillaman is the former Eva Coleman of Burke's Garden, Va. Mr. Prillaman is a native of Franklin Co., Va.
Mr. Prillaman retired with 39 years of service in the Virginia Public School System, 38 years as a school principal. He served in the Army/Air Force for four years during WWII.
They are active in Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, Grand Squares-Square Dance Club of Roanoke and other civic organizations.
Mr. and Mrs. Prillaman are the parents of five children, Ronald, Seoul, South Korea; Faye and daughter McKenzie, Roanoke; Charles, Centreville, Va.; Emily and Robert Cash, Buchanan, Va.; and Darrell Athens, Ga.
Mr. and Mrs. Prillaman reside in Rocky Mount, Va., and are enjoying retirement.
Whitaker's Celebrate 51st Anniversary
Charlie and Frances Whitaker were married on November 30, 1945, and have resided in Blacksburg for 41 years. they are the parents of Steven Whitaker, married to wife, Helen; and to Deborah Macconnell, married to husband, James. They have six grandchildren, Steven Cadell Whitaker, Jr., married to wife, Kelli; James Emmett Whitaker, married to wife, Ana; Erin, Mindy, Heather and Meredith Macconnell. There are two great-grandchildren, Steven Cadell Whitaker, III, son of Steven, Jr. and Kelli, and Alicia Jameson, daughter of James and Ana.
