SHOOTING ACCIDENT ENDS IN DEATH FOR HUNTER, 81

An 81-year-old Eagle Rock man has died after shooting himself while hunting turkeys alone in Botetourt County.

Jesse Wilcher, who was wounded in the upper chest, drove himself home after the hunting accident Friday, state Game Warden Tom Wine said. Wilcher's wife drove him to Emergency Crew hall, but he died on the way. The state medical examiner's office said the cause of death was cardiac arrest.
