NEIGHBORHOOD NAMES EAST

TERESA CALLISON of Roanoke was recently honored by the Modern Woodmen of America for her outstanding leadership of young people during 1996.

Modern Woodmen of America's youth clubs are organizations for children who are members of Modern Woodmen and aged 16 years or younger. The clubs follow a program providing children with opportunities to participate in social, civic, educational, and fraternal activities.

PLEASANTS MASONIC LODGE No. 63, A.F. & A.M. held its annual election and installation of officers at the Lodge on Dec. 16.

Elected officers are: John W. Hardin, worshipful master; David B. Baumgardner Jr., senior warden; R. Carter Cox, junior warden; James H. Hubbard, treasurer; Samuel C. Palmer Jr., secretary; Charles H. Stowe, senior deacon; H. Ralph Lane, junior deacon; W. Preston Leech, chaplain; John D. Lawrence, senior steward; J. David Cheatham, junior steward; Wayne W. Wise, marshal; Charles W. Hale, tiler.

Beverly J. Rhodes was elected to a five-year term on the Board of Trustees. O. Max Leach was elected to a two-year term.

THE VINTON MASONIC LODGE No. 204 recently installed new officers for the 1997 year: Edward L. Barger, worshipful master; Melvin E. Huff, senior warden; Richard D. Brenner, junior warden; Alfred C. Anderson, treasurer; Ronald N. Underwood, secretary; L. Keith Maxey, senior deacon; Lyndon R. Arbogast, junior deacon; Richard L. Erickson, tiler; Joseph L. Bush, chaplain; and Milton C. Fronk, senior steward.

PAGE MOIR, CAROLYN WEAVER and JANICE WEEKS have received Roanoke College's Distinguished Service Award. The award, founded eight years ago, recognizes the accomplishments of members of the college's staff.

Moir has been with the college's basketball coaching staff for seven years and has led Roanoke to more than 137 wins.

Weaver has been a member of the dining service staff since 1984.

Weeks, secretary for the foreign language and English departments, has worked for the college for 10 years.

THE ROANOKE VALLEY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB has elected officers for 1997. They are: Claude Slomczewski, president; Raymond J. Crampton, vice president; Gretchen Sharr, secretary; Richard D. Anderson, treasurer.

Directors are: Floyd Ponton Jr., activities; B. Don Johnson, publicity; Dave Kinsey, equipment; and Lyle T. Palmer, education.

SCOTT SARVER, Virginia's Explore Park 18th-century program coordinator, will travel to France to participate in a group study exchange tour program this spring.

Sarver will work for a month with 18th-century museum professionals and give lectures on the Blue Ridge region and work as a historian.
