HAGA, DEMONS RALLY PAST WILDCATS 46-43

Christiansburg 46, Rockbridge County 43: Don Haga completed a three-point play with nine seconds left Saturday as Christiansburg rallied in the final minute to turn back Rockbridge County 46-43 in a Blue Ridge District game in Christiansburg.

Eric Lucas led the Demons (9-4, 4-3) with 22 points. Lucas hit a 3-point goal to tie the game in the final minute to set up Haga's heroics.

Ricky Wright led Rockbridge County (3-9, 3-4) with 17 points.

Radford 67, Giles 54: Andrew Crowder scored 16 points to lead the Bobcats past the Spartans in a Three Rivers District game in Radford.

Radford (6-4, 2-1) secured the victory by hitting 20 of 31 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter. John Robertson and Adam Artrip added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Bobcats.

Robbie Claytor led Giles (7-7, 2-2) with 19 points.

Parry McCluer 86, Craig County 44: The Fighting Blues grounded the Rockets by capitalizing on turnovers in a Pioneer District game in Buena Vista.

Damion Beverly scored 21 points to lead four players in double figures for Parry McCluer (14-0, 4-0). Chad Coffey chipped in 13 points, David Coleman added 11 and Mike Clark scored 10 for the Fighting Blues.

Dwayne Crawford paced the Rockets (1-7, 0-3) with 18 points and Jarvis Tailey added 10.

Auburn 60, Shawsville 48: Josh Vaughn scored all 12 of his points in the fourth quarter as the Eagles pulled away for the Three Rivers District win in Riner.

The Shawnees (1-11, 0-4) trailed 39-38 heading into the fourth period before Vaughn led Auburn on a 21-10 run to end the game. Ryan Nolen led Auburn (3-9, 1-3) with 15 points,while Adam Loveday added 10.

Shawsville's Simon Jones led all scorers with 20 points. Chris Graham and Linden Ryan each added 10 for the visitors.

Laurel Park 50, Patrick County 46: The Lancers placed three players in double figures and bottled up the district's leading scorer for three quarters to post a Piedmont District win over the Cougars in Martinsville.

Jeff Slade led Laurel Park (10-4, 2-3) with 14 points, Eric Jones scored 13 and Corey Flood recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lancers built a 12-point lead late in the third quarter before Slade went to the bench with his fourth foul. Patrick County (6-7, 1-3) narrowed the margin to three on the strength of Corey Reynolds, who scored all the Cougars' 15 fourth-quarter points. Reynolds, the Piedmont's leading scorer at 30 points per game, had been held to just seven through the first 24 minutes of play by Lancers guard Josh Crabtree.

Fort Chiswell 72, Narrows 59: Derrick Jackson scored 17 points to lift the Pioneers past the Green Wave in a Mountain Empire District contest in Narrows.

Tough defense by Fort Chiswell held Narrows to only 22 of 75 (29 percent) shooting from the floor. Heath Bralley added 16 points for the Pioneers.

Joe Shipbaugh and Joey Blankenship led the Green Wave (6-5, 2-3) with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Galax 62, Bland 57: Michael Shumate scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Maroon Tide in a key Mountain Empire District victory over the Rockets (9-3, 4-1) in Bland.

Mac Garner contributed 14 points as Galax (8-5, 5-0) took over first place in the district. The Rockets were ranked ninth in the state heading into the matchup.

Lee Meadows had 23 points for Bland (9-3, 4-1).

Grayson County 69, Pocahontas 46: Wes Self passed the 1,000-point mark in his career, scoring a game-high 24 points as the Blue Devils (9-3, 3-1) gained a Mountain Empire District victory over the Indians (1-10, 1-6) in Pocahontas.

David Murphy led Pocahontas with 11 points.

Bath County 61, Covington Boys' Home 51: Junior Phillip Neff scored a career-high 22 points in the Chargers' non-district win over the Indians in Hot Springs.

Neff also grabbed seven rebounds and Adam Grist tossed in 16 points and four assists for Bath County (6-5).

Mike White led the Indians (6-7) with 24 points and six rebounds.

Gateway Christian 46, Pipestem (W.Va.) Christian 40: Andrew Smith scored 16 points to lead three Crusaders in double figures as Gateway Christian won a non-district matchup in Pipestem, W.Va.

Brad Duncan and Chris Kirtner each scored 10 points for the Crusaders (7-6). Joe Graham added 11 rebounds as Gateway Christian dominated on the boards.

Pipestem Christian (6-3) was paced by Jarrod Burton's 13 points.

Girls

Franklin County 59, Patrick Henry 21 The Eagles' press set the tone in a 14-4 first quarter, and Franklin County went on to an easy Roanoke Valley District victory over the Patriots in Rocky Mount.

Tasha Williams led Franklin County 5-8, 1-3) with 15 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Megan Conklin added 10 points and five assists.

Takeeda Hale scored 11 points for PH (3-9, 0-2).
